❤️🐾 Top Tips for Finding the Right Dog Walker
After seeing the post on Facebook, I feel it’s necessary to highlight what people should be looking out for when considering a dog walker ⬇️
✅ Experience – Ask about their background working with dogs, including different breeds, ages, and temperaments. Experience can make a huge difference when handling unexpected situations.
✅ Credentials & Training – Look for walkers who have relevant qualifications or canine first aid training. Ongoing education shows a commitment to providing the best care possible.
✅ Insurance – Always check that your dog walker is fully insured. This provides peace of mind and demonstrates professionalism and responsibility.
✅ Transportation – If dogs are transported to walking locations, ask about vehicle safety measures, such as secure crates, harnesses, and regular vehicle maintenance.
✅ Safety Procedures – Ask about recall training requirements, risk assessments and emergency protocols.
🐶 For my own walks, safety is ALWAYS the priority. I am fully insured to walk up to 6 dogs and will never exceed that number. This allows me to maintain safe, controlled, and enjoyable group sessions while ensuring each dog receives the attention they deserve. Some business insurances allow for higher numbers on private land (Example - Secure Fields) but most are capped at six in public.
🚩 If you see one person with more than six dogs, then they may not be insured if things were to go wrong.
A good dog walker should be happy to answer questions and discuss how they keep your furry family members safe and happy! 🐶🐾###
