This lovely guy was found with other pups in a cardboard box in Bosnia but was thankfully rescued and now has his forever home with a great family.

He's done really well adapting to the home environment but outdoors has a tendency not to come back when he is off lead when he gets distracted.

Real progress made today working on his recall and he's such a clever boy he has started to realise that coming back when called is worthwhile as it means praise and treats.

Great to meet this lovely Bulgarian rescued boy today. He has made massive progress with his great owner in only 8 weeks and we now just need to work on his jumping and lunging at people passing by on his walks.

This can look a bit frightening but it's not aggression, it's anxiety on the lead as he wants people to keep their distance.

By not being too ambitious for now with plenty of quiet and calm walks, and praise and rewards at the right time when he doesn't react I'm sure we will see some improvement over the next few weeks.

This is the lovely girl Ruby I worked with today. Patterdale Terriers are energetic, fearless and highly determined dogs bred for hunting so it can be challenging for an owner to get them to thrive in a home environment.

Hopefully we made some good progress today on lead walking and I will be putting a step by step plan together for the owner to address some of Ruby's issues moving forward.

Look after your dogs during this hot weather.
Walk them early morning or late at night if you can, or if you can't just keep them in and keep them cool.

No dog has ever become seriously ill or died from missing out on a walk for a couple of days - don't take the chance.

Second visit to see this very reactive guy who goes a bit manic at the sight of any other dog but I was pleased with him in the park today.

It's mostly down to frustration and lack of social skills and theres no quick fix, but by giving him a bit of distance, keeping him moving so he doesn't fixate on the other dog and staying calm I can see he's definitely heading in the right direction.

This guy's personality changed after being attacked by 2 dogs a few months ago and since then has reacted badly to other dogs, not because he's aggressive but he sees every dog as a threat now and goes into panic mode.

He's not aggressive, it's just a defence mechanism to keep them away after the trauma he had. Such a good boy today in Wythenshawe park and we got closer to quite a few dogs without a reaction and I look forward to following up in a few weeks to see how he's getting on.

This is Marley, a cute little guy who isn't too happy if anyone tries to take away anything that he thinks is his.

Resource guarding is not a dog being naughty - growling to protect something they think is theirs is natural dog behaviour based on genetics.

There are things you can do to safely try and change this behaviour so if resource guarding is a problem with your dog and need some advice just get in touch.

Pleased to meet today.

Dogs were not made for car travel and they can panic in cars and try to escape and this was the case with Max.

Good progress made today though working with his great owner and with the help of a different equipment set up in the back seat, hard chews, comfort blanket and keeping a nice calm atmosphere in the car.

We even did a junction on the motorway - well done Max!

Proud to say I have passed the milestone of 150 dog behaviour weekend home visits since the start of 2025.

I have met some great people and dogs like this Romanian rescue and her family who just needed some advice as she adapts to a completely different world to the one she was born into.

Every dog is an individual, I've seen all shapes and sizes and can't claim a 100% success rate, but hopefully have made a positive difference to most.

Bring on the next 150!

French bulldogs are real characters and can have plenty of quirks and this boy I met on Sunday was no exception.

They are intelligent dogs but can be very stubborn so need clear, firm and consistent commands, a calm environment and loads of praise when they behave themselves.

That's the plan with this little guy.
