Proud to say I have passed the milestone of 150 dog behaviour weekend home visits since the start of 2025.

I have met some great people and dogs like this Romanian rescue and her family who just needed some advice as she adapts to a completely different world to the one she was born into.

Every dog is an individual, I've seen all shapes and sizes and can't claim a 100% success rate, but hopefully have made a positive difference to most.

Bring on the next 150!

French bulldogs are real characters and can have plenty of quirks and this boy I met on Sunday was no exception.

They are intelligent dogs but can be very stubborn so need clear, firm and consistent commands, a calm environment and loads of praise when they behave themselves.

That's the plan with this little guy.

My 3rd visit today to a dog I must admit is one of my 'favourites'- this Viszla had massive confidence issues which was hard to see (possibly due to an Op he had to have to remove part of his tail) and wouldn't leave the house, not even for a walk in the garden.

Working with his owners we have slowly built up his confidence, pushing him a little bit further each time. It's so rewarding to see him enjoying himself in the park today which at one time we wouldn't have thought possible.

Still some reactivity issues to work on but with his great support network I'm sure he will get there.

Dogs are social animals and separation anxiety is a common problem these days. It can be to varying degrees and in some cases can be quite serious with dogs harming themselves or destroying things in the house.

Thankfully in most cases it's just because they get so attached to people, they will make themselves heard by barking and crying when left alone even for a short time.

I am hoping that's the case with this little guy I've seen today and have come up with a strategy with his family to see if we can build up his resilience and stop him being so anxious if he's on his own.

A real difficult case with these two today who live in the same house but if they get close the Eurasier reacts really aggressively to the bulldog and all hell breaks loose.

What makes it really hard to identify is they are so good with each other on and off lead when they're out, yet have to be separated into different rooms in the house.

The owners have done all the right things so far and now it's a process of elimination to identify what could be triggering the aggression.

This beautiful rescued staffy cross I went to see before Christmas had been mistreated and thankfully had been adopted by a lovely couple, but was so fearful she wouldn't leave the house. Every time she saw a lead she hid under the bed terrified and wouldn't come out.

The plan we put in place was to carefully keep trying to coax her as far as a patch of grass near the house so she could sniff, which would help to relieve her severe anxiety.

After a month of trying I got a message from her owners that she has got there (without the lead).
Only sounds like a small step, but an absolutely massive step towards changing her world.

Anyone who follows my Instagram will have seen my post in November about this girl rescued from Bosnia who was really struggling to cope in a home environment. I am delighted to say she has now been found a place where she can live and interact with other dogs.

Heart wrenching for her foster mum to see her go after trying so hard but it really is for the best. Fingers crossed she will settle in quickly and can now live the great life she deserves. Thank you Dogs 4 Rescue

Dogs with behavioural issues don't pause for Christmas and I have just spent another busy weekend helping owners with their dogs, including this beautiful 1 year old rescued Staffy cross.

She's very good natured, but a real 'wild child' and it's like party time for her every time someone comes to the house. I'm working with her owners to try and divert her enthusiasm before she knock's someone over and we made some good progress today!

A manic weekend cramming in 6 home visits and this guy was the star of the show.

He's still an adolescent and a real live wire and the biggest job at the moment is to stop him knocking people over with his exuberance.

Dobermans are so intelligent and although plenty to work on now (when you have got up again), by setting clear boundaries and introducing clear and consistent commands he will develop into a real beauty.

Met this beautiful girl the other week. A rescue dog from Bosnia. She is with an amazing foster mum who is doing everything right and at least she's safe, but she's just so scared of absolutely everything and can't seem to cope with a home environment.

I'm not giving up just yet but sometimes whatever we try to do as humans with the very best intentions, dogs just need the company of other dogs.

Great to meet these two lovely Staffy's today - brother and sister but very different in temperament and there is some work to do on reactivity on walks with the boy on the right.

Plans are in place focusing on more lead control, consistent commands and showering him with loads of praise when he stays calm and doesn't react.

We will try and get that tail wagging on walks over the next few weeks.
