A conversation no one wants to have and one Iv been deliberating wether to mention for a very long time through fear of people taking offence.
But someone has too bring it up so here I am.
Anyone who follows my page will notice I rarely mention good points in the horses I’m selling infact 80% of my adverts state flaws in the horse I’m homing.
So what does this mean for my business. Am I going out of my way to buy problem horses? No! I do my upmost to buy good quality sound sain rideable horses but unfortunately over the years Iv found there are more problem than good horses circulating.
Now I have a few reasons of why this is happening
1, owners/sellers are delusional and have rose tinted glasses when selling there horse. We have had horses here to sell for owners where they state they are perfect making excuses for every bad behaviour and in actual fact these horses are dangerous! They are 100% worse than any horse we describe as arkward or naughty. The amount we have to return as we are just not comfortable selling is ALOT!
There are sellers selling dangerous horses as rideable, lame horses as sound and old horses as young with new passports.
Here comes the bit your all going to scream over but first I’m going to take you back to the horse world 20y ago.
20yrs ago there wasn’t as many problem horses the reason for this is because there was knacker men who would buy problem horses & lame horses.
Now I want you to understand I never agreed nor would I ever agree with horses being transported abroad to kill or the knacker man buying healthy horses or ones with no issues but I do agree that a problem horse or lame horse needs to go out of circulation for the horses own benefit and to get the horse industry back on track. Wether he go to a knacker man who will pay for the horse or for the original owner to do the right thing and pts at home. They should never be sold to private homes or dealers.
Now I’m not on about horses with a small quirk! I’m talking about the dam right dangerous and the horses being sold with injuries that will never heal but are being masked as sound on Bute.
Problem horses and lame horses staying in circulation is ruining the horse industry massively and there’s a huge welfare issue with this with horses changing homes sometimes 5 times in one week. Hours on Lorry’s going from home to home, being ridden in pain, being made to do things they just can’t do no more WHERE DOES IT END!
It’s also effecting the prices of horses as buyers have no confidence in the horse there buying with so many scammers!
So what is the answer going forward? We all no sellers would rather off load there damaged horses on too dealers or unknowledgable private homes scrapping the last few £ out of the horse rather than pts.

Please don’t use this too hate, these things need a discussion if we are going to keep the horse industry alive,
