In amongst the showers there were a few sunny spells to enjoy. Lolly, Bert and Kane enjoyed their woodland walk at the castle, and it’s so lovely that they all get on so well together 💙🩷💙

I was pet sitting this little chap last week and he was such good company. Flash loved cuddles as much as his early morning walks to avoid the heat. We had great conversations too 🤣🐾💙

Dogs are highly sensitive to hot weather because they mostly cool down by panting and sweat through their paw pads.
If your dog needs a walk then only consider taking them during the coolest parts of day the day, remember to provide plenty of fresh water and avoid hot surfaces that can burn their paws.

HELPFUL TIPS

1)Test the pavement for heat
2) Adjust walk times
3) Never leave in cars
4)Hydration is essential
5) Provide a cool shaded place to rest
6) Outdoor play… a shallow paddling pool or garden hose on a light spray
7)Look out for, red or pale gums, excessive panting, lethargy, vomiting and diarrhoea.
8)If in any doubt… SEEK VETERINARY ADVICE

PHEW IT’S A SCORCHER!
We will not be doing any dog walks today due to the extreme heat.

Rio had a walk up to Starbucks this afternoon for a puppuccino. I think he enjoyed every last morsel! 😋 xx

‘POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT’ is rewarding desired behaviours. It is generally more effective for long term behavioural change. This method builds trust and encourages learning.
Today Rio responded well and especially loves to get a biscuit for a treat! 😋🐾🫶🐶 xx

Flash and Kane had the best afternoon out walking together in the sunshine! First we parallel walked to the pet store to buy a treat each. Then walked down to Costa for a ‘puppuccino’ a cold drink of water, and a snack. Flash couldn’t eat his treat as quick as Kane so he carried it all the way home! 😍❤️🐶 ###
