I believe it's because cats and dogs are everywhere!! They are also well catered for in the pet world with dozens of kennels and catteries across the country...but I offer something a little different for pets that are just as treasured, but who might feel left out when it comes to holiday care. arrots, parakeets, chickens, tortoises, lizards, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters etc. I wanted to keep all sorts of pets from a very young age but my parents were not thrilled with the idea and so begrudgingly I was allowed my first pet (a snail from the garden !). From there, I took up fish keeping (pond and indoor marine & freshwater fish) followed by a gerbil at age ten and a tree frog and lizard in my teenage years. Since then I have kept rabbits, mice, cats, dogs, chickens and even helped to rehabilitate a fledgling crow. After completing a Biology degree in 1999, I went to to study small animal care whilst working in a very large exotics pet & aquatics shop in Devon. In more recent years I have had an exciting career with corporate jobs in Sales & Marketing in the Pharmaceutical industry and Business Development in the Travel & Tourism sector but both of these have kept me away from home for a large proportion of my working life. I have now retired from the corporate world and have chosen to set up The Sylvan Small Animal Pet Hotel at our family home. I believe that my knowledge and experience of all creatures great and small offers you the best possible care for your pets whilst you are on holiday. Working from home means that I am onsite almost 24/7 and we are fully insured for pet boarding and pet transportation if required. The pet hotel is set next to and within a small idyllic area of woodland (that's why we chose the adjective "Sylvan" as the name for the hotel) and we offer pet vacations in a peaceful and quiet retreat with first class accommodation provided within our secure facilities.
