Heavy rain today, but it didn’t stop us heading out for a run at the field! 🌧️🐾

The dogs certainly didn’t seem to mind getting a little soggy 😂 After a mountain of towels and blankets, we all warmed up with a cosy afternoon snoozing on the sofa.

Rainy days have their perks too. 💙🐶☔️

📣 Long post alert — it’s been a while 😅

I’m going to be totally honest… the support we’ve had for our little shop since the day we opened is genuinely humbling.

Every single day you lot blow us away. Nearly three years in, and somehow we’re still living our best life 🥹

A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing customers — the regulars, the newbies, the future visitors and of course EVERY SINGLE DOG 🐾

Hundreds of pups have trotted through our doors and made this place exactly what it is today 🫶🏼

Without the people of Longton (and beyond!), we simply wouldn’t be here. I’ve met some incredible humans along the way ❤️

We’ve poured everything into making this the best little dog shop we possibly can. Just a small family‑run gig doing our absolute best:

• Craig, Big Boss — always grafting behind the scenes on top of his full‑time job, and somehow putting up with my chaos 🤭

• Amanda, facing battles nobody should, yet still keeping us laughing every single day. We love you, Mand 🥰

• Esther, our little girl who LOVES being in the shop meeting you and your dogs during half terms — the real Big Boss 🤩

• Rubes, our own doggy, popping in for the occasional shift 🥰 (Not too often though, because NOTHING would get done if she was here often 😂)

It’s taken a LOT of hard graft to get here, and the best is still to come. I wouldn’t change a thing ❤️

This is shared from a post from a dog trainer but we thought it was a great summary of socialisation!

🐾 In our experience, people often think socialisation simply means a dog gets on well with other dogs. While that’s certainly part of it, we believe it’s just as important that dogs can settle, relax, and feel comfortable in different environments and situations.

A truly well-socialised dog is one that can confidently cope with whatever the day brings. 💛🐶

One of the most misunderstood words in dog behaviour? Socialisation. 🐾

When many people hear the word socialisation, they think it means their dog should meet every dog, greet every person, and be involved in everything around them.

In reality, good socialisation is about teaching a dog to feel calm, confident and neutral in the world around them.

A well-socialised dog doesn't need to say hello to every dog they see. A well-socialised dog doesn't need attention from every person they pass.
They simply need to understand that these things exist and can choose to remain relaxed around them.

Sometimes the best socialisation looks incredibly boring:
✨ Watching the world go by.
✨ Settling on a bench.
✨ Observing dogs from a distance.
Learning that they don't need to interact with everything.

Socialisation isn't about creating a social butterfly, it's about creating a dog that can confidently navigate the world around them. 🐾

Roxy chose to bring us a dead pigeon. 🐦💀

Not quite the TripAdvisor rating we were expecting, but we’re choosing to believe it was a heartfelt gesture of gratitude. 😂

She’s settled in beautifully, made herself completely at home, and clearly felt it was only right to contribute to the household.

Thanks for the gift, Roxy. Next time, a bottle of wine will do. ❤️

Griff’s induction to Doggy HolliDays is now complete. Thanks to resident experts Arlo and Benny, he has learned that the windowsill is:

1. A prime sunbathing spot
2. The official neighbourhood watch headquarters
3. The ultimate location for cute photo opportunities

He’s fitting into the team suspiciously well already 🤔 🐶
