Hey everyone, though it was about time I posted something on here. Most of you will already know a little about me - I do dog sitting part time via the rover site. I started to help my anxious dog become more confident with dogs of all sizes, and because I work from home full time so have the flexibility to give my full attention and time☺️ Both of my dogs love the company of all the friends they have of all sizes, from Bruce our tiny fluffy maltipoo, to Bobby the 60KG bouncy Labrador cuddle monster.
You’ll see on my rover page, and on this page when I get it more established, that we never walk just around my local area and streets. I’m a psychologist and although my training is on humans, I’m passionate about animal welfare, mental stimulation and enrichment, and have spent a lot of time working with my dogs on their respective behavioural challenges, from anxiety to food and resource guarding. Because of my love for dogs and understanding of how brains and hormones work, and experiences imprint on both humans and dogs alike, this is why I always take dogs to open areas for walks, and we never do the same walk two days in a row. While I like the fresh air, going for walks isn’t for me, it’s for the dogs to engage their noses and brains, whether they choose to stroll or have zoomies. For this reason we always go to the woods, countryside, fields, nature reserves, river walks, or I hire a secure field. I promise to offer your dog a home from home, and ensure that they have mental stimulation, play, as well as any quiet and alone time they need.
A move is on the cards for this year, so I will have a house and garden in the near future. I’m planning to apply for a boarding license and set up officially then, although it will still be part time as I love my career. I can’t say when the move is happening, because let’s be honest moving house can take forever. But I’ll keep all my clients updated as soon as I know anything, my intention is to work around existing bookings to not cause any disruption or inconvenience to anyone.
I currently have bookings right up until November this year, with some limited availability left for may, early June, mid July and early sept.
