Today we welcomed two new furry friends, Lily and Tayla, who popped in for their complimentary registration health check. This free service is a brilliant way for new patients to meet our friendly team and for our vets to give them a thorough health assessment right from the start. It was a pleasure getting to know them, and we're so happy to have them as part of the Ledbury Park family! 🩷🐾

New Pet Travel Update ☀️ 🏖️ 🐶 🐱

From the 22nd April new rules have come into effect covering how residents of Great Britain can travel to the EU with their pets.

From this date, GB citizens whose main residence is in the UK *cannot* use their EU pet passport for transit into the EU and *must* have an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by a official veterinary surgeon before any travel.

EU pet passports will only be issued to residents of EU countries or those individuals whose permanent residence is in the EU.

GB residents can still use their pet passports for the return journey to the UK.

Please check the government website for more guidance.

If you would like help or advice or an issuing of an AHC, we have 3 vets who are able to provide this for you so please just ask our lovely reception team when enquiring.

🩺 ♥️ MURMUR MONTH ♥️ 🩺

Lovely Marty came in today for an echocardiogram to investigate a murmur which was picked up during a recent heart health check. 🐾

We’re very proud to have Natasha as part of our team. She holds a diagnostic imaging certificate and is interested in cardiac disease.

This means she is trained to assess murmurs in much greater detail than routine checks alone allow, and identify subtle changes which can be easy to miss without this advanced knowledge.

During March Murmur Month, pets who need further assessment can benefit directly from Natasha’s experience and our imaging equipment - Something that isn’t available everywhere, for a discounted price.

Thankfully Marty 🐶 has no evidence of changes to his heart and monitoring only is recommended at this point. 🥰

📞 Book a heart health check to find out whether Natasha’s input could be helpful for your pet - while spaces are still available! 📞

💛 MURMUR MONTH - Why heart murmurs are hard to spot at home 💛

Many owners ask ‘Wouldn’t I notice if something was wrong with my pet’s heart?’

The honest answer is often, no. Early heart changes rarely cause obvious symptoms. Coughing, exercise intolerance or breathing changes usually appear much later, when the heart disease has progressed. This is why listening to the heart and assessing it clinically is so important.

As part of our MURMUR MONTH, we are focussing on early checks - before pets feel unwell - so decisions can be calm and informed, rather than reactive.

📞 If your pet is old, or a breed prone to heart issues, a heart check could be worthwhile. We are offering complimentary heart health checks throughout March, so contact the practice to arrange a consultation with one of our vets while spaces are still available.

❤️ 🩺 MURMUR MONTH IS HERE 🩺 ❤️

What is a murmur?
A heart murmur isn’t a diagnosis on its own, it’s a sound we hear in the heart when blood flow isn’t completely smooth.

Some murmurs aren’t harmful, while others can indicate changes in the heart that may benefit from further assessment and monitoring. The key is being able to tell the difference which comes down to experience, training and investigation.

Have a look at our wonderful noticeboard next time you’re visiting for some more facts about heart health!

Throughout March we are offering a complimentary heart health check* so we can assess what a murmur means for your pet, not just if one is present 🐶 🐱

We are also offering discounted cardiac investigations with Vet Natasha, who holds a diagnostic imaging certificate - to ensure your pets get the care they deserve.

📞 Speak to a member of our team to book a heart health check this March! ♥️

*our complimentary heart health checks are limited to circulatory assessment only. For any other conditions raised, a consultation will be recommended and charges may apply.

Yesterday morning we had the pleasure of visiting Busy Bees Ledbury to talk to the children about how to care for their pets. The children were so engaged and enjoyed looking after their teddys! It’s lovely to inspire the next generation 🤩
