Foxtails Can Be Harmful to Dogs.

Foxtails are seed heads from certain grasses that start drying out late summer through fall. When dry, they become sharp and barbed, which means they can easily stick to your dog’s fur, paws, ears, or even get inhaled. This can cause discomfort, irritation, and sometimes serious infections if not treated quickly.

While fresh green foxtails are softer and less risky, it’s good to be aware as they dry out and become a potential hazard.

We take special care on walks to avoid foxtail-heavy areas and always check your dog’s coat to keep them safe and happy!

Hi everyone! Now that it’s summer, I wanted to share a few important tips to help protect your dogs during the hot weather. ☀️🐶

1.Walk during cooler times – Always take your dog out early in the morning or later in the evening. Exercise is important, but avoiding the heat is even more important. Remember, your dog won’t be harmed by skipping a walk, but they can suffer serious harm from extreme heat.

2.Use the 5-second rule – Place your hand on the pavement. If it’s too hot to keep it there for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws! Hot surfaces can cause painful burns and make walking uncomfortable for days.

3.Hydration is vital – Always make sure your dog has access to fresh water throughout the day. Staying hydrated helps prevent heatstroke and keeps them feeling cool and happy.
