It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform friends and customers that adam passed away peacefully of Saturday evening.
The shop remains open under new ownership. We hope that you will continue to support this business going forward.

Dear customers:
Due to sudden poor health, Adam Haynes, (Owner of the fishey business) Is retiring with immediate effect. I would like to thank all friends / customers I have had the pleasure of assisting with their hobby over the years. Helping you enjoy your hobby has been a pleasure, getting to know you and becoming part of your leisure time activity has been a rewarding experience that hardly ever has seemed like real work.
It has been such a pleasure to see new generations of fish keepers from the same families. I have seen many customers becoming parents, then later on their children growing and returning to start the hobby all over again.
This sudden requirement of retirement has left 'The Fishey Business' in need of a new owner. and an opportunity for a capable aquarist / experienced fish keeper, to take over the business in full. Tony, the long standing member of staff has just over a year before his retirement will become inevitable, and would be available to work if required. I can also offer as much assistance as time allows.

Due to sudden health issue, Adam (me) will take an immediate break from ‘the Fishey business’ working schedule. To assist Tony (giving him some rest days) we will now be closed on Monday and Wednesday of every week. I apologise for this inconvenience and hope to see you all again. Thank you all very much for your support in the past and l look forward to returning when possible.

CHANGE TO OPENING SCHEDULE: Due to Events beyond our control, we regret to advise that we will be unable to open on several days over the coming month or two. Starting with 'THURSDAY 17th MARCH'. (when we will be closed). On 21st March we will announce the 2 days per week that we will be temporarily closing. (fish will be checked and fed !) We apologise for the inconvenience and hope the situation will be resolved as soon as possible.

At Last. 'Clown loach' (5 & 6 cm sizes) are finally available (at a reasonable price). Due to supplier, new season special offer.
In the last year to 18 months, the availability of Clown loach has been low, while the price had shot up. They are now back in stock, at the old price of £6.95 (or 3 for £19.00) and the larger size (shown) are £7.95 (3 for £21.00).
They are great snail eaters, live in excess of 10 year and in a large aquarium may exceed 8 inches (10 to 12 in very 'huge' aquariums.
They are shy but add a great splash of colour to your aquarium.

Sadly our local MP Sir David Amess has passed away following a tragic incident while at his constituency surgery.
Sir David was an avid fish keeper, having several aquariums at his home and office in the house of commons. A very frequent visitor to our shop and will be missed for his dedicated work for Southend and his support for animal welfare issues. RIP Sir David.

As of 4/1/2021 an acceptable reason to leave home is to access advice and information for animal care, obtain animal foods and required maintenance goods.

Whilst obtaining these items the full range of goods and livestock is available at the shop.

Live food supplies
Our trusted live food supplier has sprung back into production, having closed for six months (due to! you know what) So, live shrimps and a small amount of blood worm and Daphnia has arrived.
Should be arriving Friday's from now on, and available at its freshest Sat, Sun and mon.
A great treat for your fish !!
