Today is International Dog Day – lets take a moment to celebrate the bond between our 4 legged best friends 🐶 🐕

In Ukraine, that bond has taken on an even deeper meaning. It is predicted that over 10,000 dogs have been made homeless in Ukraine over the last 3 years. Soldiers on the frontlines are often joined by stray dogs, who bring a softness to the brutal experience of life on the frontline. We have seen dogs living in trenches, at roadblocks, and on training grounds.

For the past three years, Worldwide Vets has been on the ground in Ukraine, delivering free veterinary care to these dogs. We have treated injuries, vaccinated against deadly diseases, provided life-saving surgeries, and ensured that shelter dogs, stray dogs and family pets alike, remain healthy and safe 🇺🇦 🩺

In a time when so much has been taken away, we are determined that health will not be one of those losses. But this work depends on ongoing support. Every vaccination, every treatment, every recovery is made possible by the generosity of those who believe in the power of the human–animal bond. You can join us in making a difference.

Want to get hands-on with real wildlife conservation in South Africa?

The Kruger Wildlife Project is your chance to step into the world of game park management, animal care, and anti-poaching and make a real impact.

Whether you’re studying zoology, wildlife conservation, or just wildly passionate about animals, this 2-week project will have you living and working on a beautiful wildlife reserve, helping care for buffalo, impala, sable, giraffes, elephants, and more 🦒🐘

Here’s a taste of what you could be doing:
🦁 Removing snares and tracking predators
📡 Monitoring rhino, lion, and elephant movements via telemetry
💉 Darting and treating injured wildlife
👣 Patrolling with K9 anti-poaching units (and maybe even wearing the bite suit!)
🧪 Conducting faecal egg counts and helping with parasite control
🚙 Relocating wildlife back to safety when they stray outside the reserve
🌙 Nighttime camera trapping of predators like hyenas and leopards

This is raw, real conservation work, not just a photo op. And you don’t need to be a pro to get involved. Whether you’re a student, aspiring conservationist, or just up for an adventure with purpose, you’re welcome here.

South Africa is calling! Comment 🦁 to secure your spot today and join the fight to protect Africa’s wildlife.

Dr Olha on the frontline in the ever challenging city of Kherson. Here working with animals presented by the amazing ГО «Тобіас. Тварини Херсона» who do so much for animals.

The patients presented were coming in for sterilization and to have tumors removed, to improve welfare for many. There is hardly any veterinaru support coming to this area of Ukraine anymore for animals. Is it is really getting incredibly dangerous to access. We're lucky enough to have military passes to be able to get past the checkpoints and provide the service for the animals, because even for Ukrainian civilians who do not live in the area, it is becoming impassible.

Driving around town is incredibly high risk, with drones and bombs flying over most airspaces. Even the road in is now physically wrapped with nets to stop kamakazi drones flying into civilian vehicles, su***de missions which has caused the death of many people.

The volunteer team writes "Thank you for not forgetting Kherson. Thank you that our doctors are able to treat animals for free. It's a great deal, and for us - an invaluable support 🙏"
