DON'T GIVE THESE SCUM YOUR MONEY!

I recently saw a FB post showing a 3 yr old, black/white Papillon with 3 puppies. I offered to adopt the mother. I went through an adoption process, forms, many emails, texts, my garden video.

After being 'vetted', i was told I had been chosen to adopt 'Debbie'. Imagine my excitement. I was so looking forward to homing her not just for me, but as a companion for my Matilda. She misses her 2 doggie step sisters.

The cost was £585, which I rounded to £600 and paid through bank transfer, nothing seemed out of place.
Until the bank intercepted. I spoke to a bank official from the fraud dept.

It was all a scam!

The bank triple checked. So notwithstanding the emotional journey, the bank saved me £600.

The 'rescue' name is FUREVER BOND ANIMAL RESCUE. they have a website offering dogs at different prices. All the dogs look cute, many are puppies, maximum 'saleability'.

They also ask for donations.

www.fureverbondrescue.org.uk Regardless of how this site looks, they are NOT REAL. They are after your money.

Please be aware that I am passionate about dog safety, which will be reflected in my written replies.

This question was asked on 'Quora'. Unbelievable that someone should take a baby from its mother at 4 weeks of age!
(See 1 month old puppy below)

"Why does my 1-month-old puppy cry?
How can I stop her crying?"

The ‘human’ that sold you this puppy, at this age wants putting-down! It probably came from a puppy mill, in which case expect vet bills soon! They have probably left the country and returned to Ireland by now, so…

Take baby to a vet ASAP.

Get it checked.

Get puppy milk / bottle,

Feed it every 2 hours, for now.

I’d keep it in a carrier and carry it around all the time if it was mine.

Put baby in a fluffy, warm environment, use a hot water bottle (don’t use boiling water, or put naked bottle near the skin) just needs to be warm. Get a short haired toy so your pet feels its with its mum or siblings. It wouldn’t hurt to get a babies dummy, your pup needs comfort atm and desperately needs to suckle (under supervision though. remove when it’s asleep).

Under NO circumstances feed puppy kibble. If you must later on, don’t do so before 1 year old, their tiny tummies can’t tolerate / digest biscuit meal yet, and then use only a very high quality one.

Grill the vet for as much info as possible, you need it.

This info, if you follow it, will currently keep your puppy alive.

Please don’t take it back, unless you know 100% that it will stay with its actual mum. I doubt it. They’ll probably just sell it on anyway.

Finally, report to the authorities the scum that you obtained your pup from. Also, most dog rescue centres will freely give out advice when you need it.

Feel free to get lots of advice from my doggie advice page. Save Our Dogs UK

Why Make Dog Food with Meat By-Products?

Meat by-products are simply slaughterhouse waste.

Meat by-products are…
.. the non-rendered, parts, other than meat, derived from slaughtered mammals. It includes, lungs, spleen, kidneys, brain, livers, blood, bone, partially defatted fatty tissue, stomachs and intestines.

Poultry by-products are…
.. the non-rendered parts of carcasses of slaughtered poultry such as heads, feet, viscera.

Generic meat ingredients are...
.. those that do not identify the source animal, so, instead of listing beef, chicken or venison, 'generic ingredients' disguise details with words like…

Animal
Meat
Poultry

With exceptions of hair, horns, teeth and hooves, it includes almost any other part of an animal.

The downside of serving Animal by-products is that it provides low-in-quality nutrition. The reason why dog food is made with ABP? - its cheap!

Meat can legally come from virtually any mammal. So, unlike 'beef meal' which MUST come from beef, generic 'meat meal' can legally be made from…

Road kill
Euthanized cats and dogs
The 4 Ds - Dying, Diseased or Disabled animals / farm animals and a plentiful supply of Dead zoo animals

Many dog food companies make little effort to disclose the actual amount of meat that’s in their food. But all ingredients must be listed in descending order according to weight.

If you want better value when buying dog food...

Do not buy foods that contain...

meat by-products
generic animal proteins
4 Ds product

Can Dogs Walk on Frozen Ground, or at Least on Very Cold Surfaces?

Most medium or large breeds can safely walk around a half hour or so in anything above 0°C. Smaller breeds will be half that time. Better too that they don't run. The night air can cause heavy breathing, which can induce choking then possibly vomiting.

Ensure they wear a warm jacket. Dogs have an amazing warming up and cooling down system on board for most climates, but this system clicks into place for only a short period. Frostbite and hypothermia is a serious threat in winter.

During dark evenings use a reflective collar, bandana or flashing light. Better that they are seen before anyone trips over an unseen hound.

Chemicals, like grit / rock salts, can cause cracking, dryness, chafing and burning to their most vulnerable areas - paws, and bellies and intimates! Stay away from treated roads, or buy a set of doggie snow boots.

Both, sweet tasting and palatable antifreeze (from car radiators) and rock salts are poisonous to animals if ingested. Always wash paws upon returning home.

Lakes often have a very thin layer of ice in winter, which lulls a dog into thinking it's safe to proceed, it never is: note many-a-dog, lake rescue video on You Tube.

Always be kind to your pet.

Dogs are really scared of fireworks, so it's up to us to ensure they are not traumatised by this ridiculous, antiquated tradition that should have been banned years ago.

Checkout the following tips for calming your dog, and if you have any suggestions for helping a dog overcome its fear of loud bangs, we'd love to hear them.

Keep your pet inside during fireworks, with curtains closed and music / TV / Radio left on.

Make your dog / pet a den using boxes / sheets and blankets, as this will help them to feel safe and secure - a 'bolt-hole'.

Try distracting your pet from the explosions outside with toys, training with treats or tasty chews (NOT hide chews).

Reduce your pet's stress with calming products.

Talk to her / him, soothingly, while giving additional reassurances with hugs.

Save Our Dogs UK have brought you many reports about the safety of dogs, but did you know that they also come with their own safety mechanisms, for humans! Our 4 leggers can proffer mental and physical health benefits.....

Dogs reduce stress, loneliness, anxiety and depression; plus, simply by default, they automatically encourage cardiovascular health with exercise and playfulness, and by playing with a dog, it can help children grow up more secure and active. Plus seniors benefit with the companionship they provide, whether they live in, or if visited when in residential facilities.

One study found that people with borderline hypertension who adopt dogs from a shelter, for example, had significantly reduced blood pressure in less than 6 months! And those over 65 make significantly fewer visits to the doctors.

Most importantly though, expect unconditional love
from your dog, because she will thrive on love and attention from you.

More things you can do to ensure absolute loyalty and have your dog fall in love with you.....

1. Ear rubbing and chin scratching
2. Hand feed your dog regularly, she'll love it
3. Talk to her, and say how much you love her
4. Train her, there are few better ways to bond
5. Learn her body language

Finally, Not only do dogs seem to love us back, they actually see us as their family. A caveat though, as dogs mostly dislike being hugged, its best to keep hugs to a minimum.
