Elsie's family are absolutely devastated to be rehoming her, but sadly Elsie has not been getting on with the other resident dog (male) for the last few years. Last week, she attacked him again in front of the young children, which understandably frightened them all.
Elsie’s owner has tried everything to help her over the last few years, including medication, blood tests, and working with a behaviourist, but sadly nothing improved permanently. Elsie's owners told us over the last few weeks she contacted many rescue centres for help, but none would take Elsie and all advised that she be put to sleep.
Heartbreakingly for the family, Elsie was booked in to be euthanised tomorrow, Friday 22 May.
Yesterday, as one last try, her owner was advised to contact Suki’s Rescue, and thank goodness she did.
We asked her to complete our rehome form asap and last night, once received, we arranged an emergency assessment for Elsie.
I met Elsie and her family at our secure field today, and she was an absolute sweetheart. Friendly, loving, affectionate, and playful, she interacted beautifully with the children and came over to me many times for cuddles (and treats 😉). She showed not one sign of aggression towards humans and passed her assessment with flying colours.
The best news of all? That vet appointment is now being cancelled, and Elsie will be coming into Suki's Rescue ❤️
She will go straight into a pet-free foster home where she can safely decompress and be further assessed before finding her forever home.
Once again, thanks to our amazing team of volunteers and fosters, another life has been saved.
