❤️ Once again, we ask that you keep little Gus in your thoughts. ❤️
This tiny trooper has been through more than most dogs ever should since coming into rescue over a year ago, yet somehow he continues to face every challenge with nothing but strength and courage.
Over the last few weeks, Gus started developing small pustules on his skin which were being treated, but then a few unusual lumps appeared under his skin. Last week, Gus went in for surgery so the vets could biopsy one of the larger lumps. Due to its size, the vet decided to remove it completely. We are now anxiously waiting for the biopsy results, which should be back by Monday, and we are all praying for good news.
True to form, Gus has taken everything completely in his stride. His wounds are healing beautifully, and despite everything he’s been through, he hasn’t cried, shown signs of pain, or even tried to scratch at his stitches. For such a little dog, he has the most incredible strength and spirit.
We would also like to give a huge shoutout to his amazing mum Rebecca and dad Dan who have shown so much love, courage, and dedication through all of this. Gus truly is living his very best life with them, and honestly, we couldn’t have chosen better doggy parents for him if we searched the whole of the UK. ❤️
Please keep their special little boy in your thoughts and wish him a speedy recovery 🐾🐾

Huxley is a gorgeous 2-year-old Pug who is coming into rescue due to a change in his owner’s circumstances. Sadly, after moving home, his owners are no longer permitted to keep pets in their new property. He is currently staying with an elderly family member who, although doing their best, is unable to give Huxley the exercise, stimulation, and care a young Pug needs long term.
We have provisionally secured a foster placement for Huxley where he will be able to decompress, settle into a routine, and undergo further assessment while we search for the perfect forever home.
Before being ready for adoption, Huxley will need to be vaccinated and neutered. We’ll share more updates on his personality and needs once he has settled into foster care.

Tonight the gorgeous Leo came into foster.
Luckily for Leo, our volunteer Stew, decided not to pick him up until the weather had cooled down a bit, because it turned out Leo didn't enjoy travelling and he got himself all worked up, (Leo not Stew 😅).
Once in foster, Leo's Mum Sue let him take time out to decompress and settle into his new surroundings. It looks like hes starting to make himself at home 🏡
While in foster, he will be further assessed, and we will get him neutered and vaccinated before opening up application for him.
He needs a good groom, and claws trimmed at some point, and he didn't come very many belongings, so we'll be kitting him out with a decent harness and lead, some decent food, toys and nice treats to help with his training.

☀️ Hot weather is forecast over the next week, so please make sure you and your furry friends enjoy the sunshine safely! 🐾
Pets can quickly become unwell in warm temperatures, and heatstroke can be very serious. Signs to look out for include:
Excessive panting
- Drooling
- Lethargy or weakness
- Vomiting or diarrhoea
- Collapse, confusion, or seizures

To help prevent heatstroke:
Always provide fresh water
- Keep pets in cool, shaded areas
- Walk dogs early morning or late evening
- Never leave pets in cars, even for a few minutes
Avoid hot pavements that can burn paws

⚠️ Important heatstroke advice:
Previous advice to “cool slowly” and only use “lukewarm or tepid” water is now considered outdated. Rapid cooling saves lives. If you suspect heatstroke, start cooling your pet immediately using cool water and airflow while arranging urgent veterinary attention. Cool first, transport to your vet second.

If you are worried your pet may be suffering from heatstroke or becoming unwell in the heat, please contact your vet as soon as possible for advice. Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly! ☀️🐾

Elsie's family are absolutely devastated to be rehoming her, but sadly Elsie has not been getting on with the other resident dog (male) for the last few years. Last week, she attacked him again in front of the young children, which understandably frightened them all.
Elsie’s owner has tried everything to help her over the last few years, including medication, blood tests, and working with a behaviourist, but sadly nothing improved permanently. Elsie's owners told us over the last few weeks she contacted many rescue centres for help, but none would take Elsie and all advised that she be put to sleep.
Heartbreakingly for the family, Elsie was booked in to be euthanised tomorrow, Friday 22 May.
Yesterday, as one last try, her owner was advised to contact Suki’s Rescue, and thank goodness she did.
We asked her to complete our rehome form asap and last night, once received, we arranged an emergency assessment for Elsie.
I met Elsie and her family at our secure field today, and she was an absolute sweetheart. Friendly, loving, affectionate, and playful, she interacted beautifully with the children and came over to me many times for cuddles (and treats 😉). She showed not one sign of aggression towards humans and passed her assessment with flying colours.
The best news of all? That vet appointment is now being cancelled, and Elsie will be coming into Suki's Rescue ❤️
She will go straight into a pet-free foster home where she can safely decompress and be further assessed before finding her forever home.
Once again, thanks to our amazing team of volunteers and fosters, another life has been saved.
Fostering really does save lives. 🐾🐾

8-month-old Barney is looking for a rescue placement due to his owner’s declining health. Sadly, his owner has COPD and is no longer able to manage his exercise needs, as Barney has become too strong for her to walk safely on the lead.
When she adopted him, Barney’s breeder advised that he was a Wheaten Terrier cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier and would stay fairly small. However, Barney has grown much larger than expected and, like many young dogs, can be boisterous and excitable, especially when visitors arrive.
Barney is a lovely young boy with lots of potential, but he now needs an experienced foster or forever home that can provide continued training, guidance, and the exercise he needs to thrive.
Ideally, Barney will first come into foster care so he can receive a full health check and further assessment before finding his perfect forever home.
Please get in touch if you feel you could either...
Foster Barney and help us assess his needs, or
Offer him a loving forever home with the time and commitment for ongoing training.
Barney is a gorgeous boy who deserves a fresh start with someone able to help him become the best companion he can be.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the lovely Helen Thomas for thinking of Suki’s Canine Rescue during such a difficult time, and for taking along a donation bucket to her wonderful Mum Julie’s funeral so that friends and family could donate in Julie’s memory.
We were truly saddened to hear of the loss of Julie, and our thoughts are with Helen and her family. 🕊️🕊️
Back in 2023, Helen adopted our gorgeous Dexter, who completely stole Julie’s heart from the very beginning. Helen told us that supporting the rescue in this way would have been exactly what her Mum would have wanted, a way of giving something back to the rescue that brought Dexter into their lives.
We are incredibly touched by this beautiful gesture and so grateful for everyone who donated a total of £271.75p in Julie’s memory. 💜🐾🐾
