🐾 🦷 Meet CJ! 🦷 🐾
He came into the practice to see one of our nurses for a pre-operative castration check. His deciduous canine tooth was picked up during this check and it was decided the best course of action was to remove this whilst in for castration.
Deciduous teeth are what are commonly known as Puppy or kitten teeth. Dogs have 28 teeth and kittens have 26 by the time they are 3 weeks old. Normally these fall out when the permanent dentition (adult teeth) erupt. However, sometimes they don’t.
You can see CJ’s deciduous tooth in his before picture below. If these teeth are left, they can lead to overcrowding of the teeth which can then cause plaque build-up and bad oral hygiene.
As shown in CJ’s after picture below, his teeth are now perfectly aligned, preventing him from needing further dental work in the future.
If you are concerned about your pets teeth, then you can book in for a dental check with one of nurses for FREE! 🦷
