☀️ With the recent hot weather across the UK, it’s more important than ever to keep a close eye on our horses and make a few simple adjustments to their daily routine.

Hot conditions can quickly affect a horse’s comfort and wellbeing, especially during long days in the sun or periods of high humidity.

Here are a few simple ways to help your horse stay safe and comfortable in the heat:

💧 Make sure fresh, clean water is always available
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and airflow in the field or stable
🐴 Ride during the cooler parts of the day where possible
🪰 Use fly protection and consider UV rugs for sensitive horses
🌡️ Watch for signs of heat stress such as heavy breathing, sweating, weakness or restlessness

If your horse becomes overheated, move them somewhere cool, offer small amounts of water and use cool water over the body while waiting for veterinary advice.

A little extra care during hot spells can make a huge difference to your horse’s health and comfort.

🐎⚠️ Worm control in pregnant mares is not just about the mare ⚠️🐎

Some parasites can be passed from mare to foal, including through milk.

This means a foal can be exposed very early in life without you even realising.

Keeping on top of worm egg counts during pregnancy helps:
✔️ Reduce risk to the foal
✔️ Keep the mare in good condition
✔️ Avoid unnecessary worming

A simple test every few months can give you a clear picture.

Our new machine has officially landed at CF Group 🙌

After a lot of research, we decided to upgrade our laundry setup and the difference is unreal! Faster turnaround times, better wash quality and a much more efficient setup for handling customers rugs properly.

We were a bit sceptical when we were told this machine would completely out perform our old setup… but they definitely weren’t wrong 👏

If you are sending samples to us at CF Equine Group, please allow extra time for delivery over the bank holiday weekend. For accurate worm count results, samples need to arrive as fresh as possible, so we recommend planning ahead where you can.

Worm control during pregnancy is something many owners overlook, but it plays a big part in giving your foal the best start.

Foals are born without worms, but they can be exposed within days, especially from the mare or the environment.

Young horses are more vulnerable as their immune system is still developing, which means early management really matters.

Regular testing and a simple plan can make all the difference.
