Cat Aid Team-Feral Friends

Cat Aid Team-Feral Friends We are a small, south Leicestershire based rescue. Our aim is to tame feral kittens and neuter adults All monies go to care for the cats and kittens we can help.

We are a volunteer not-for-profit organization and we spend all monies collected on cat welfare – mainly on veterinary expenses. Food, transport, phone, stationery, internet and all other expenses are covered by the volunteers themselves. We depend on fund-raising and donations from the public to fund our objectives. Our main objective is to tame feral kittens and give them a domestic life in a sa

fe environment, reduce the number of unwanted cats, by preventing the breeding of feral and stray cats, through a program of trapping, neutering, and returning cats.

Where a stray or feral mother has kittens, we foster and tame them with a view to rehoming them as domestic pets. Their mothers are neutered and either returned to the area they came from, or are rehomed. However, without a sanctuary the number of cats we can do this for is sadly limited. All donations are most gratefully received and are greatly needed and appreciated.

ZELDA HAS BEEN ADOPTED 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Zelda came to us in February 2025 with her kitten Ricky. She was completely shut down and hid in the litter tray for days only coming out to eat… she was bald from her shoulders to her tail (see last photo) 😢 One of our fosterers her up from her previous home and it was clear she had not been treated kindly to say the least 😭😭

Ricky was adopted by a lovely lady and fell on his paws completely 😻
But Zelda was still terrified and took months to come round… her fosterer actually cried the first time she came to her for fuss and trusted her ❤️
But her hair started to grow back almost immediately she arrived and she turned into such a pretty girl xx

Her fosterer said…
“Of all the fosters we have had she was the hardest but by far the most rewarding and I wish her every happiness with her new family who saw past her initial shyness and have given her a chance ❤️❤️
We will miss her so much but Zelda getting her forever home is everything” ###

Introducing Baby Bailey.
A feral cat gave birth in a garden. Today the mum cat moved 3 of the kittens, leaving this little fella all on his own. He was brought to us after waiting all day for mum to return 😿
Fingers and toes crossed for this little one 🤞🤞🤞🤞He’s a very tiny boy

Last year we were asked to help with a tiny week old kitten was found in a garden in Burbage. We had hoped that the mum cat would surface, or the remainder of her litter would come to light but sadly they never did. Rosie was hand reared and absolutely had her foster mum wrapped round her 🐾🐾🐾 as she couldn’t part with her and moved in permanently.
Well today some ladies were having their elevenses when they spotted a cat walking down the street from top to bottom with what they thought was a mouse. A few minutes later she did the same thing again and then again. Eventually she settled behind a mobility scooter. The ladies went out to see what was happening and discovered her 3 beautiful little kittens under the scooter. We were called and collected the kittens safely into a carrier and set the trap for mum who was very good and returned and was safely trapped in under 20 minutes. Mum has been living as a stray being fed by a few of occupants of the sheltered accommodation community and was assumed to be a feral.
Now when mum was caught we checked her for a chip as we do with all cats and sadly although she is chipped it isn’t registered so is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. Clearly registering her chip and neutering were not a priority. 🤬😫🤬.

Yesterday we took gorgeous mum Peggy to the vets to be neutered. Peggy had been very vocal since her kittens were 4 weeks old. When the vet operated he found ovarian cysts-which if left lead to life threatening infection pyometra. This is one of the reasons why neutering your cats and kittens is so important. This could have been fatal had she been left outside as a stray. Luckily for Peggy she’s had her last litter of kittens, and it was all removed so she can live a long and healthy life.
All she needs now is a forever family to love and pamper her🐾🐾🐾💖😻
