🌹 Lest we forget 🌹
Dogs on Remembrance Day are remembered for their service as military animals who acted as messengers, search and rescue partners, guards, and companions in wartime.
Their roles included carrying vital messages across dangerous territory, finding wounded soldiers, and providing psychological comfort to troops.
Messenger Dogs carried important messages across no man's land during WWI, even when faced with snipers and landmines.
Search and rescue dogs used their keen senses to locate wounded soldiers, and they would stay with those who were gravely injured until help could arrive. Proving just how loyal our beloved dogs are.
Dogs performed guard duties and acted as scouts, navigating dangerous areas to protect their handlers. Proving just how selfless they can be. Dogs truly are the meaning of “ they will love you more than they love their self “
More recently mind detection dogs have been trained to detect the smell of explosives in mine detection roles.
They provided a significant psychological comfort to soldiers being a true companion, serving as a reminder of home and a source of solace during the horrors of trench warfare.
We owe a lot to our furry friends, the ones with us and the ones no longer with us but are always remembered. ❤️
