✨IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT✨

First of all, I want to apologise to anyone who has submitted an enquiry recently and not yet received a reply. I’ve been waiting until things were set in stone before making this announcement.

A few days ago, I was offered an amazing job opportunity. This means that at the end of May, I’ll be closing the doors on my wonderful little business and beginning a new chapter working with the RSPCA as a Behaviour and Training Advisor.

This decision definitely hasn’t been an easy one. Barker’s Academy has been such a huge part of my life, and I’m incredibly grateful for every single client, dog, and supporter who has trusted me to be a part of their journey. Watching your dogs grow in confidence, develop new skills, and become happy adventure companions has meant the absolute world to me ❤️

However, this new role is an amazing opportunity for me to develop further within a field I’m incredibly passionate about and to use my skillset for the greater good.

All current courses will run as planned and I’ll be getting in touch with all enquiries over these next few days. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Meet the utterly scrumptious graduates from February’s six week puppy course 😍🐶🎓

This lovely group graduated last Tuesday and now have the foundations in place to grow into confident, happy adventure buddies!

Barker’s Academy puppy courses are designed to give you the skills to teach essential behaviours such as loose lead walking, recall, calm focus around distractions, and settling in new environments. Just as importantly, we work on building confidence so your puppy feels prepared to cope with the everyday sights, sounds and experiences life throws their way.

My aim is to help you shape a dog who feels safe, capable and ready to explore the world with you — using positive reinforcement and force-free training methods that support both learning and wellbeing ❤️🐾

🐾 Six Week Dog Training Courses – Starting Tuesday 14th April! 🐾

Ready to head into the lighter days and warmer weather with a spring in your step because you’re able to have peaceful walks where your dog actually listens to you?! 😌

Looking for training that actually works in real life and isn’t just obedience tricks that you’ll probably never use?

Or, perhaps you’re dreaming of being able to take your dog on holiday with you, to the pub garden or a lovely cafe, without causing a scene? 🙈

I’ve got you covered!

✨ Puppy school (up to 6 months) – Perfect for giving your baby dog the best start in life. We’ll cover all the essentials like recall, loose lead walking, impulse control and confidence building. We will look at EVERY aspect of socialisation, rather than just puppy play, to set your puppy up for success and ensure they live their best life! (ONLY 5 SPACES LEFT!)

✨ Adolescent & Beyond Class (6 months+) – Because teenage pups (and grown-ups!) need support too. We’ll tackle focus around distractions, dive into self-control and practice skills to make day-to-day life together less stressful and more fun! (ONLY 5 SPACES LEFT!)

💡 All training is force-free, fun and supportive, with a focus on cooperative care – helping your dog learn to love everyday handling, vet visits and grooming.

I am currently in my final year of studying my BSc (Hons) in Canine Behaviour Management and I’d be extremely grateful if as many people as possible could help me ❤️

For my dissertation, I’m investigating the perceived impact of olfactory enrichment on dogs’ emotional resilience. In other words, does giving dogs meaningful opportunities to sniff, explore scents and engage their noses help them cope better with stress?

If you currently own a dog, I’d be very grateful for your input. The survey is anonymous and takes around 5-10 minutes to complete. You can complete multiple forms per dog if you are a multi dog household 🐾

Every response helps build a clearer understanding of how we can continue to improve welfare in pet dogs and across the canine industry

We had a lovely evening welcoming in the first Puppy and Adolescent & Beyond classes of the year last night! The puppies even started off with having their first interaction together as they were all so chilled for their first class- they were equally as chilled and lovely when saying hello to one another 🥹🐾
