What a great session we had last week at Brading Roman Villa 😎 A huge thank you as always for such a brilliant venue 😃

Whilst the sun didn’t put in much of an appearance, the rain stayed away and the wind made it tricky 💨💨💨

We were able to use the different areas of long & short grass, alongside the wind direction to plan some challenging but great fun trails for the dogs and handlers to navigate.

You could see the dogs jumping through the long grass or lifting their noses to catch the scent trail that had mainly settled on the top of the grass as the trail layer walked through to a hiding spot…😃

The shorter grass pathways allowed us to have trails like roadways, with junctions, gateways and obstacles to navigate around….😃

As always, both dogs and handlers were brilliant 🥰

A belated posting of our day Harvey Browns - Farm, Food Hall, Butchery & Café
A huge thank you as always for the use of such a great place to trail 😃

It was a day of two halves with the morning session cut short due to torrential rain and high winds 😃
Great dedication from the handlers though, hunkering down to hide before it got too awful !!

The afternoon saw sunshine arrive, making a much more pleasant trailing session for all 🐕‍🦺

Wednesday was a great urban search day.
Working a trail whilst being aware of roads, traffic & other urban distractions is a real challenge for the handlers.
The dogs know how to follow the trail but the handlers have to anticipate any dangers, stop and start the trail if needed, manage a much shorter line, all while watching their dogs body language and subtle indications. Not an easy task but as always, they did brilliantly 🥰

On an urban trail, things are always changing and challenging the dogs. People stepping out from doorways/crossing roads in front of them, car radios blasting, loud trucks/motorbikes whizzing close by…Not only can it be distracting from the job in hand (and sometimes a bit scary), the movement of all the above can change the scent picture over and over again as the dogs are working.

Hard work for both dogs and handlers but such a great experience 😃🐕‍🦺

We took advantage of the cooler weather early this morning and increased the trail length to help develop the dogs concentration, stamina and problem solving skills.

The dogs handled it brilliantly & handlers did a great job of reading their dogs along the trails 🐕‍🦺

Great work from everyone today ❤️

We had a last minute time and venue change due to the fabulously hot weather today ☀️☀️☀️
Into the woods for some early morning shade, keeping the trails short, staying cool 🫧🫧

The low wind, damp ground and shade from the trees made for a perfect morning of trailing 😃

WOW what a great day of trailing we had on Wednesday 😃
It’s amazing to watch the dogs taking scent and then working the space around them to find the beginning of their trail, working out which way is strongest and following it😃
It’s really hard to stand still, be quiet and let them work but when you see it in action it’s perfect 😃

Yesterday’s session was designed to help the dogs build up stamina and concentration on longer trails.

By removing complex components and increasing distance we helped support the dogs to remain on task over a much longer scent trail.

Both dogs and handlers found it a challenge but it was a great “long” session as always 😃🐕‍🦺

We had the pleasure of trailing at Brading Roman Villa this week, so a huge thank you the the venue 🥰

The wide open spaces coupled with strong winds made for a challenging environment for the dogs.
We were able to offer the dogs trails that included several junctions to navigate as well as some interesting hides that prevented any visuals 😃

We also welcomed Ruby for her first trail session after her owner won the space in the TrackAdog raffle…she was a natural 😃

As always, dogs and handlers were brilliant 🥰

A super big thank you to Harvey Browns - Farm, Food Hall, Butchery & Café for letting some of us trail at their lovely venue this week 😃
It was great for the dogs to have the distraction of water, ducks, dogs and fishermen to work around…and also a chance for handlers to really practice long line skills 🐕‍🦺

Saturday bought more sunshine at Firestone Copse 😃
Some of the dogs worked on a new start pattern, which they handled really well.
A special mention to teams Dorothy’s (for completing a super long trail) and team Monty (for suddenly realising what a great game it all is and having his best trails so far) 🥰🥰🥰
