☀️ Hot weather warning 🥵

On a day like today it’s almost unbelievable saying this 😳

‼️ Temperatures set to rise into mid twenties next week ‼️

📣 What this means for your dogs here 📣

🕰️ Please time your dogs arrival as early as possible or they may miss out on walks
🪭 The fans will be out and circulating air
🧥 Please supply a cool coat with your dog if you have one
🏊‍♂️ Paddling pools will be out and available for your dogs to use and cool themselves down
🌳 We are lucky that in the afternoon the trees and hedges create shade that allow the dogs time to go play outside from around 2/3pm

We will do our best to ensure your dogs wellbeing at all times, keeping a close eye on them and making sure play doesn’t end up too exuberant causing their temperatures to rise 🤒

But let’s all enjoy this sun safely, it’s been a long wait for the warmer days ☀️

🐣🌷 Happy Easter from all of us at Oakfields Dogs! 🌷🐣

We’re having a pawsitively eggciting time celebrating with all our furry friends today! (We’re in the middle of a field at a canicross event, the run means we can eat double the chocolate right?)

A huge thank you to Lola’s lovely mum for the amazing Easter pupcakes – they went down an absolute treat! 🧁🐾 The dogs enjoyed every last crumb… trust us, blink and you’ll miss it, just look how quickly our Thursday crew inhaled them😍

Wishing all our wonderful clients and their four-legged family members a very Happy Easter filled with love, treats, and plenty of tail wags! 🐕✨

Do be careful with all your chocolate treats though as remember chocolate is bad for your pups! ⚠️

🐾🚨 BIG NEWS 🚨🐾

After a few years of careful training, we’re proud to announce that your pups have officially taken over the business.

That’s right, while you think they’ve been here playing I’ve actually been making them study hard to pass over the reins…

Starting today:
🐶 Dogs will be running drop off and pick up
🐶 Treats will be served on demand, especially if you want to enter the property (to them, obviously, but I’m not opposed to a bit of chocolate if they’ll let me)
🐶 Humans must pass a belly rub test on ALL dogs
🐶 All meetings will now be replaced with nap time, and play time is the majority of admin time.

I tried to negotiate… but they offered me more treats than I could refuse.

Welcome to the new management 🐕👑

Things that aren’t usually talked about during daycare advertising but are essential to your dog 🐶 ⭐️

Dogs love to play, socialise, and burn off energy at daycare, but they need time to rest and recharge too 🐾💤

Downtime isn’t just a break… it’s essential for your dog’s wellbeing. It helps prevent overstimulation, reduces stress, and allows them to process all the excitement of the day. A well-rested pup is a happier and, usually, calmer pup 🐶✨

At daycare, balanced routines that include both play and rest make all the difference. Think cosy spaces, quiet time, and supervised relaxation—because non-stop play isn’t always the best thing for your dog.

We have nine dogs on the property and when three of those are tired but still being pushed to play this is where issues can arise. With the amount of space available here dogs usually settle themselves into their own areas and will take themselves off to rest if they want to but we still ensure there is group downtimes 💤

Next time your pup comes home tired, remember—it’s not just from play, it’s from a well-balanced day where they got to enjoy every moment and all aspects ❤️

🐾 Important update for all dog owners 🐾

There’s been a recent change to UK law around dogs and livestock, and it’s really important for all of us to understand what this means when letting our dogs off lead. Especially when out enjoying the lovely spring weather in the countryside.

🐑 What’s changed?
Under the new Dogs Protection of Livestock Act 2025, which came into force in March 2026, the rules around livestock worrying are much stricter.

🚨 Key things to know:
• Your dog does not have to touch livestock to commit an offence – chasing or even disturbing animals now counts
• Letting your dog off lead near livestock can be an offence if they are not under close control
• Owners can now face unlimited fines if their dog worries livestock
• Police have greater powers, including the ability to seize dogs in serious cases

🐕 So what does this mean for off-lead dogs?
If you’re anywhere near fields(farmland), public footpaths or roads and rights of way that are near livestock (which covers sheep, cattle, goats, pigs, poultry, but now also includes alpacas, llamas, horses, ponies, donkeys, farmed deer and enclosed game birds (e.g. pheasants, partridges, grouse)), your dog should be on a lead or have absolutely reliable recall. If in doubt — keep them on lead.

🌿 Our advice at daycare:
We love off-lead freedom, and rest assured the dogs get plenty in our large garden, but safety comes first — for dogs, wildlife, and farmers. In the spring it is our responsibility to keep the dogs under control and so therefore until the sheep are moved onto different fields we do not allow off lead walking. 💚

We’re a little countryside haven for all our clients dogs but this comes with balance, it won’t be long but, for now, we must enjoy watching the lambs from afar while on lead 🐑

Happy National Puppy Day 🐶💛

As many of you know I’ll soon be adding another to my pointy dog gang!

Today is all about celebrating those wagging tails, playful zoomies, and the endless joy puppies bring into our lives! Whether they’re tiny troublemakers or growing into their paws, every pup deserves a day full of love, cuddles, and fun.

At Oakfields Dogs, we’ve loved being a part of many of your dog’s journeys from puppyhood to adulthood. We offer a safe, loving home-from-home experience where your young ones can learn to socialise properly and navigate new experiences under guidance 🏡🐾

Drop a photo of your pup in the comments, we’d love to see all those adorable faces! 📸

Just like people, not every dog is going to be best friends and that’s completely okay, I always say you can’t put 9 people in a room and expect them to just click 🐾

Every dog has their own personality, play style, and comfort levels. Some love big, bouncy groups, while others prefer a calmer environment and some even switch it up on days or can come out of their shell as they gain confidence in the environment. 🏠

Just because two dogs don’t click doesn’t mean anything is wrong, it simply means they’re different four legged people and that is why we love them all individually so much 💚💚

We look at temperament, energy levels, and social preferences to make sure every pup feels safe, comfortable, and happy throughout their stay with us whether daycare or boarding.

We take the time to match dogs into the right groups, where we can, we make sure everyone’s bestest friends are in together so that they all have the best day. On days where we can’t we take the time to introduce dogs to one another and if one dog prefers quiet, we will advocate for that dog and entertain the ones who like to play more.

Our priority is always your dog’s wellbeing, not forcing friendships or putting dogs into situations they do not like. I aim to create the right setting in which every dog can relax, play, and be themselves 🐶

Hi everyone 👋

I thought it was about time I reintroduced myself—especially as there are lots of new faces here (and plenty of new four-legged ones too 🐾).

My names Rowan, I’m 31 and the human behind Oakfields Dogs… chief dog cuddler, mud collector, and professional treat dispenser. Occasionally you’ll see my mum, Heather, around as she also helps out with welcoming and sending home. The business has now been running for 3 years and everyday we’re in for new adventures 🐾

Before this, I spent 10 years working in the horse world. I’ve got a degree in Equine Sports Science and an MRes in Equine Performance. I’ve got two horses, Kit and Sonic, who I compete with nationally and internationally in dressage.

At home, I have three dogs of my own —Loki, Fenrir and Revna—who are the reason I have no spare time, clean clothes, or personal space. In that “free time” I sometimes have, I compete with them in flyball, canicross and bikejoring… because apparently I don’t enjoy sitting down.

Oakfields Dogs was built from my love of animals and my slightly chaotic lifestyle. I know how important it is to have somewhere you trust completely, whether your dog is here for daycare or boarding—and I promise they’re treated like one of my own (which means lots of love, a bit of madness, and probably coming home tired!).

Thank you so much to everyone who’s supported me over the last 3 years—you’ve helped turn this into something really special ❤️
