Sniff, search, succeed! ๐Ÿถ Treat-finding games are a brilliant way to keep dogs mentally stimulated. Using their incredible sense of smell builds confidence, reduces boredom, and provides enrichment that's just as tiring as physical exercise. Every successful sniff is a little win!
Well done Arlo ๐Ÿ‘ such a good boy! โค๏ธ

When my clients head off on holiday or to spend time with loved ones, they're placing so much trust in me. Not just with their home, but with the pets they love like family.
Some of my house sits last three or four weeks, so during that time I'm there for everything. The morning cuddles, the daily walks, the bedtime routine, the games, the reassurance when they miss their humans, and all those little moments in between.
I could never replace the bond they have with their owners, but I can be a familiar, comforting face until they're back home. Keeping them in the place where they feel safest, surrounded by everything they know and love, makes such a difference.
For me, the greatest reward isn't just happy petsโ€”it's knowing my clients can truly switch off, relax and enjoy their time away without worrying. Knowing their beloved companions are safe, loved, spoiled and never lonely.
That feeling is priceless.
And being the person who can give families that peace of mind is something I'll never take for granted.
Thank you to every client who has trusted me with your precious pets. It means more than you'll ever know. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

I'm sure we're all breathing a sigh of relief now that the heatwave has passed.

Looking after dogs during extreme temperatures is a huge responsibility. Their usual routines have to change completely, and every decision is made with their safety in mind. Its not only the heat from the sun but also the humidity & air quality to be concerned about.

This week I was caring for a Newfoundland, an Akita, a Pomsky and a horse, so it was all hands on deck!
I had my partner, Bobby, helping me out with this one. He's fully DBS checked and insured, and often steps in when a sit is a little larger or an extra pair of hands is needed.
One of the biggest advantages is that he works from home, so he can work from almost anywhere, which is great for me ๐Ÿ™‚ but best of all the animals adore him.

During the heatwave we created a routine that worked for each individual dog. The Newfoundland, because of her size and the extra strain the heat puts on giant breeds, had her own very short, slow walks to keep her calm and cool. She literally didnt go very far just down the shaded lane.

The other two who are more energetic were walked early in the morning over the forest before the day began to heat up.

We spent the mornings relaxing in the shade of the woodland, and the afternoons in the coolest room of the house with fans positioned for each dog. We even stayed quietly in the room with them so they could properly settle and sleep instead of constantly getting up to see what they were missingโ€”rather like tiptoeing around sleeping babies!

By late evening, when the temperature had finally dropped, it was time for another gentle walk before everyone settled for the night. Fans kept on & windows open.

The bigger dogs never touched their food in the mornings instead we put a small bowl of kibble down for them to graze on. We also changed their water often keeping it nice & fresh & cold!

This is the side of pet sitting that people don't always see. It's not just feeding and walking dogsโ€”it's understanding each dog's individual needs, adapting to the conditions, and putting their wellbeing first every single day.

They all did brilliantly, and that's exactly what you hope for. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿพ
Meanwhile, their owners could relax and enjoy a lovely family holiday, with complete peace of mind knowing everything at home was being cared for โ€“ from their beloved pets to watering the garden.๐ŸŒฟ

Finally, it's cool enough for a short, tree-lined evening stroll. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿพ

After today's heatwave, Nala, Teddy & Winnie were more than happy to swap sunny adventures for a gentle walk in the shade. Plenty of water, plenty of rest, and now a little fresh air before bedtime.
Good dogs, happy dogs. โค๏ธ๐Ÿถ

Currently caring for two beautiful dogs and a horse, and every evening I get to enjoy a sunset walk surrounded by the stunning New Forest landscape and its iconic ponies.
It's a privilege not only to care for people's beloved pets but also to spend time in such wonderful places.

A quiet moment during this week's pet sit. ๐Ÿพ
Being so close to Mottisfont Abbey, I couldn't resist a stroll through the beautiful rose garden. Despite all the rain we've had recently, the roses were looking absolutely stunning and in full bloom. ๐ŸŒน
One of the lovely perks of living in this area is having special places like this right on the doorstep. โœจ
