🌱Some days, the best walks aren’t the longest ones… they’re the coolest ones 🌿
When the temperature rises, our dogs rely on us to make safe choices for them.
Even the dogs who love being outdoors can struggle in the heat far quicker than many people realise — especially larger breeds, older dogs, flat-faced breeds, or dogs with thick coats.
For Ellie, today’s “walk” looked like this…
A quiet shaded spot, cool running water, lots of sniffing, lots of resting, and simply enjoying the moment. 🐾
In warmer weather: • Early mornings & later evenings are safest
• Pavements can burn paws surprisingly quickly
• Shade and fresh water are essential
• Slower, calmer walks are absolutely okay
• Sometimes enrichment and companionship at home are better than long walks
Dogs don’t care about step counts.
They care about feeling safe, comfortable, and being with the people they trust. 🤎
Stay cool, stay kind, and when in doubt… shorten the walk. ☀️🐶

Last week, little dog… this week, BIG dog 🙂

Ellie is such a gentle giant. She's a Golden Retriever/German Shepherd cross. We've been enjoying lovely morning and evening walks together around her local park.

I love the way she often just likes to sit quietly and watch the world go by, taking everything in around her.

It’s an absolute pleasure caring for her and Willow (the family cat) while their humans enjoy a well-needed holiday. 💛

I felt so fortunate to recently care for this beautiful girl, Cleo ❤️
At 15 years old, her hearing has sadly gone, her eyesight is fading, and she’s beginning to show signs of dementia, but she still has so much puppy spirit in her.
She bounces and she gets so excited for her treats 🥰
There were no long walks — just gentle strolls, with Cleo deciding when she wanted to head home. Older dogs need a different kind of care; patience, presence, compassion, and understanding of their changing needs. That’s exactly what sweet Cleo deserves in her older years.

Some dogs leave a little mark on your heart, and Cleo is definitely one of them. She’s one of those dogs you simply never want to leave. 🐾❤️

The most amazing week looking after these two girls, Margot and Mabel. They were such a pleasure to care for. The weather was amazing, so lots of river and park walks... they even dragged us into the pub! ...which my partner didn't mind! 🤣

When I stay in your home, I am there solely for your pets. I do not run a dog walking business alongside this — your pets have my full attention, time, and care throughout the duration of my stay.
This includes: • 24-hour presence, care, and companionship
• Maintaining your pet’s normal routines, walks, feeding, and enrichment
• Attentive, hands-on care — offering comfort, which often means having them sleep close by if that’s what they’re use to.
• Calm, confident handling of high-energy or sensitive dogs
• Care, love and a reassurance for cats
• Respectful care of your home — keeping it secure, calm, and lived-in and your plants watered
My pricing also includes: • Meet & greets prior to booking
• All travel and fuel costs to and from your home
• Ongoing communication and updates for your peace of mind during my stay

A lovely day off in Stockbridge, made even more special by some truly thoughtful gifts I was so grateful to receive after winning recent competitions with Thyme & Tides Deli, Richmond House Beauty, and Duxemore Botanics. Feeling very lucky and thankful for such generosity 💛. Finished the day perfectly with coffee and cake by the river at The Test of Stockbridge with my partner Bobby — a truly peaceful setting to end a really lovely day 🌿
