Silver is progressing well with her schooling, her canter is coming along nicely now

Some youngsters take longer than others, Silver is a slooow one! I’m careful not to rush ponies and like to produce them slowly. Silver started her ground work as a 3yo, backed as 4yo but spent that year mainly just hacking. There have been some gaps and time off but I have been making a real effort this spring/summer to get Silver going. She has a fantastic attitude, really can’t fault her on that, she always try’s and is sensible as well as willing. But she has been slow to mature physically, still feeling rather green and wobbly under saddle. It’s getting there but just taking time. These ponies can’t be rushed and Silver will have all the time she needs. We are doing strengthening groundwork exercises in between ridden schooling sessions, I’m tempted to try a few sessions at the water treadmill… will have to do a post about that if we make it there!

Silver’s first pony club rally, xc at Dene Farm. So pleased with this mare today, straight into both water complexes first time. What a clever and brave girl. She was also happy to go first or last, leaving the group or being left by the group is a big ask for a young pony and she coped so well with that.
