🌟 This is what being a coach is all about for me 🌟

This morning, I had one of those lessons that remind me exactly why I love teaching.

One of my lovely clients had her second lesson with me today, and for the first time since getting her horse a year ago… she cantered! 🐎✨

Confidence has been the biggest hurdle for her, so in our first lesson last week, we focused on two key things:
✅ Building her mindset and tools to manage her confidence while riding.
✅ Giving her a simple system to keep her horse focused and relaxed in the arena, instead of spooking.

She went away, put in the homework, and came back today determined, focused, and with such a positive mindset. In turn, her horse was in a brilliant place too – calm, happy, and ready to work.

So, I decided it was time to push her comfort zone just a little. At first, she hesitated (understandably!), but with a bit of gentle persuasion, she trusted me… and off she went. From trot to canter – and not just a few steps, but a full, balanced circle of canter. It was beautiful to watch.

Two other ladies who know her story were cheering her on from the sidelines, and the look on her face afterwards was absolutely priceless. These are the moments that make teaching so rewarding – helping riders overcome those mental blocks and achieve something they once thought was impossible. ❤️

And the best part? I absolutely love helping my clients set goals – no matter how big or small they are (or how big or small they might seem to other people!). I get such joy from creating a clear system and working alongside them until those goals become reality.

What makes this even more special for me is that I know exactly how it feels. About 8 years ago, I went through a huge confidence crisis myself after a bad fall. I even stopped riding for a while. Now, I’m confident, I’ll get on any horse, and I love what I do – but I never forget what it took to get here. That’s why helping riders work through their confidence struggles means so much to me.

Such a perfect start to the day… and now I’m off for a lovely pub ride with two of my liveries this afternoon! 🍻🐴

✨ It’s official!! ✨
All of my qualifying codes are through for the Summer Areas and Summer Regionals – and I’m beyond excited (and still slightly in shock!) to say I have FOUR horses qualified across a range of levels! 😍🙌

💫 Quilate is qualified for the Summer Prelim Gold Regionals AND the Novice Silver Areas
💫 Lorcan is qualified for the Novice Silver Areas
💫 Guapero is qualified for the Advanced Medium Silver Areas
💫 Sanson is qualified for the Advanced Medium Silver Areas

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be riding at regionals and areas from Prelim to Advanced Medium on four different horses, I honestly wouldn’t have believed you. The growth in my riding, my understanding of producing young horses, and how I approach training and tests has changed so much – and I’m just so proud of how far we’ve come. 💪🐴

💭 My first ever BD test was in April 2022, riding Sanson as a four-year-old, and I just want to say to anyone out there chasing goals: if you set your mind to something, work hard towards it, and keep showing up through the tough days, you can achieve the things you dream of. 💫
The key really is consistent hard work, belief, and reflection — sometimes we’re so focused on the next step that we forget how far we’ve already come.
Back in 2022, the idea of riding multiple horses across multiple levels and qualifying them for areas and regionals wasn’t even on my radar… and now it’s my reality. 💙

Unfortunately, Sanson won’t be attending the areas this summer due to a physical issue that we’re currently working through. His health, happiness, and soundness always come first, and we’re hoping to have him back and ready in time for the winters. 💛

For now, the other three will be flying the flag at both regionals and areas over the next few weeks, and I couldn’t be more excited! Let the summer of competing begin! ☀️💃🎉
