Hi everyone. Just an update on mira. She has safely arrived in Scotland and is currently chilling peacefully in her room and resting. She done very well on the journey. Eating and drinking well. We just want to thank you all again for raising the funds for her to have this chance. She is now safe and her future bright. We will keep you updated x

🌟Some much needed good news: Miles has been adopted!🌟

With everything that is going on in Turkey and the emergency situation of 6 AFOT dogs being taken to the government shelter and not yet released, we really needed some good news. That good news came in the form of an adoption: Miles has found a new home in the UK and is travelling this week!

Miles was AFOT's first rescue from the government shelter after the Massacre Law came into effect in Turkey. Miles is a great example of the type of vulnerable dog that is at risk under the new law. Middle-aged, quiet and weak, as his kennel got more and more crowded, he was unable to get enough food, and he started to waste away.. He was so incredibly malnourished, he was a walking skeleton..
Miles had no way to fend for himself in the crowded government shelter, and with weak and sick dogs being euthanised to make space for more dogs coming in from the local round-ups, the clock was ticking for him.. Who knows how much longer he would have survived..

Now all that is behind him and he can look forward to a life of safety and comfort in the UK!

EMERGENCY SITUATION

Earlier this week we were notified that a complaint was made against Brenda Gibson one of our foster carers that has resulted in all the dogs in her care being removed to the local shelter including 6 AFOT dogs. Sadly one escaped through total fear and we are praying he returns.

As you can all imagine we are doing our utmost best to find out how we can get them out of the shelter. One of the dogs is our old lady Chloe, the thought of her & the others struggling in a shelter makes our hearts break, her & the others will be completely terrified.

Two of the dogs were in another foster carers name and they are helping us with this which we are so grateful for.

We have long standing friends of AFOT who are also helping and our thanks to you all, you know who you are.

It is a dire and very serious situation that we never in a million years thought would happen to our beloved dogs that AFOT have cared for over 3 years for. It’s also a situation that we are unable to give any detail about as to why this happened as nothing has been verified by the authorities but we understand the Jandarma and Dept of Agruculture were and are involved. We have been informed that permission is being sought from the Ministry for the dogs to be adopted from the shelter and until this is given the dogs must stay there.

As you can appreciate our hearts are truly broken for these dogs, we are trying to stay focused on getting them out and won’t rest until we do.💔

Dog of the week: DRAKE 🌟

Drake really isn't made for a life in kennels. He walks beautifully on the lead and is at his happiest when out for walks. He would so enjoy having an owner to go on long walks with, and would love to be able to explore the forests and fields in the UK!

If only she could tell us about her past, we can only guess, but she was found in the government shelter, really struggling with the overcrowding.

Kali is the most loving, people-focused dog, with cuddling being her favourite pastime!! She is loyal, energetic, friendly and loving. She needs time and training to build her confidence with lead walking and being outside of her safe space, and this will need to continue with an adopter but she would make the most wonderful addition to any family!! 🥰
