🌟 Introducing K9ology Mentoring: Ethical Guidance for Aspiring and Practicing Dog Trainers 🌟

We are pleased to announce the launch of K9ology Mentoring, a dedicated support service for individuals pursuing a career in dog training, as well as those seeking renewed clarity, confidence, or direction within their existing practice.

With extensive experience in the dog training industry and a longstanding commitment to ethical, science based methods 🧠🐾, we have mentored numerous trainers over the years through shadowing and informal guidance.

Over time, we’ve had the privilege of supporting trainers at various stages of their journey; some just starting out, others seeking renewed clarity or direction.

In doing so though, we’ve noticed at times a recurring theme: a shadower navigating their development without the depth of support they truly needed, so have had called upon us again for advice.

These conversations have inspired us to formalise what we’ve offered informally for years: a mentoring space that meets trainers where they are, supports their growth with integrity, and helps them build practices that reflect both competence and care.

K9ology Mentoring is designed to meet that need 🙌

We offer:

✅ Tailored support for trainers at all stages of development
✅ Practical guidance rooted in behavioural science and compassionate communication
✅ A professional, values led environment where questions are welcomed and growth is nurtured - we do not hold back on any ideas! 😊

This is more than a mentoring service, it is a commitment to raising standards, fostering ethical leadership, and empowering trainers to build practices that reflect both competence and care 💬✨

If you are ready to invest in your development and receive the support you truly deserve, we invite you to connect with us 🤝

A lovely update from this beautiful girl and her devoted family last week 🥰🐾

She’s been working through our Behaviour Programme, with a focus on helping her feel less overwhelmed in certain situations and more at ease when out and about, especially during those quiet moments when her humans pause for a drink.

And just look at her now….calmly soaking up the sights, happily watching the world go by while her family enjoys some refreshments 💛🙌

This kind of relaxed presence takes time, trust, and teamwork, and they’ve done an incredible job.
Huge well done, guys! 👏👏

Well said from my lovely friend Cheryl from Chel's Tails Canine Coaching 👏👏

I commented on said post too.

The level of aggression, personal attacks and inflammatory language has been so offensive and utterly astonishing 😳
But, these are people with no qualifications and also not up to date with even basic training methods - so why do I expect anything more 🤷‍♀️

I don’t engage with that kind of discourse, it’s utterly pointless!

The core issue remains unchanged though: tools like slip leads when used to train and grots, prongs and ecollars function through discomfort, pain, or the threat of it. That’s not training, it’s coercion.

This gorgeous boy wrapped up his programme today, and we couldn’t be prouder of him and his incredible family 🥰👏

He’s a rescue Working Cocker Spaniel who’s full of energy and easily overstimulated. His family reached out for support with calmer walks and guidance on helping him self regulate.

It hasn’t been easy, but they showed up with patience, perseverance, and a commitment to go at his pace. The results speak for themselves: calmer walks, calmness at the street door, and a more regulated pooch all round 🙌

We also worked on recall and emergency stops, and he’s absolutely smashing them 💪🐾

Huge well done to this amazing team. Your love, consistency, and dedication have been nothing short of inspiring 💛

Pawsitive Pup/Beginner’s Class Highlights 🥰🐾

This week we kicked off loose lead training and they absolutely aced it 🙌
We also introduced our ‘go settle’ exercises, and as you can see, they nailed those too 👏

Now they’ve got their homework, and we can’t wait to see how they’re getting on next week.

So proud of this brilliant bunch 💛

Our Story

Hi there! I'm Caroline from K9ology and I’m a Fully Accredited Dog Trainer with the IMDT and a Member of The Pet Professional Network.

Along my journey I have met so many different breeds of dogs, different problems ranging from pulling on the lead, severe barking, aggression and lots of different ways people have tried to help the situations and their dogs. All of these things can be rectified, with time, perseverance and patience. ‘Quick fixes’ rarely work for long, so all I ask of owners is that they take on board the advice, stick to the plan and give it their best shot.

I have thee dogs of my own; George an Old Tyme Dorset Bulldog who we’ve had seen he was nine weeks old, Milly an ex puppy farm dog who is approximately two years old and Lexi, a rescue French Bulldog who was a breeding dog. Timmy, our little rescue Cavelier King Charles Spaniel who was also an ex puppy farm dog, died from heart failure last year, but we were lucky to have him in our family for two years and fours months, which was a lot longer than we were told when we adopted him due to his heart murmur.

Through our dogs alone, I have learnt so much - George wasn't the easiest of dogs to house train, and was totally dog and people obsessed when we were out. He then has had various problems with his legs, so we’ve had to help him cope with that and rehabilitate him. More recently he has had two lots of cancerous lumps removed, but is now a happy and content dog again. Timmy and Milly as I say were ex puppy farm rescues, both were found abandoned on the streets and just skin and bone when we got them. Timmy also had various wounds on him, so had obviously been hurt too while on the streets. We had to house train Timmy and although extremely friendly, he was understandably cautious around some dogs, and was very guarding of his food and bones at first. He gradually became very confident and respectful around other dogs and house trained, and although was still a little bit food obsessed, it was no longer a problem. Milly also needed house training and was terrified of the outside world, especially of cars and some men. She would literally shut down before our eyes in certain situations or with certain triggers. Everything had to be done very slowly and gradually, but she is now quite confident and even enjoys her walks now too. Lexi being an ex breeding dog had led a mainly kennelled life, so also needed house training. She’s on the whole a happy girl, but we’ve had to do introductions to dogs carefully, as she wasn’t use to seeing lots of different types of dogs, or being able to go on carefree walks and sniff and just be a dog!
