✅ Housesitting involves an individual living in your home, usually overnight. Petsitting and “drop ins” only include a brief visit; the petsitter does not live in your home.

✅ Housesitting is the ideal option for dog owners who want the peace of mind that their dog is happy at home when they are away.

✅ Housesitting is also a great option for cats who need extra attention; for example, when they need regular medication or feeding throughout the day.

✅ Dogs who find kennels stressful, will likely benefit from staying at home and following their usual routines.

✅ A housesitter can care for your home and alert you quickly to any issues. Your home will be monitored to ensure it is safe whilst you are away.

✅ Housesitting and pet visits both require a high level of trust in the sitter. Always arrange a meet and greet and ask questions to make sure you are comfortable with someone living in your home. Be clear about any rules the sitter should follow.

✅ Other options include kennels and home boarders. Both must be licensed with the local council. This may be a better option if you are uncomfortable with someone living in your home.
