ADOPT DON’T SHOP‼️ Or so they say…
I have had one of the WORST experiences with a rescue in recent days. I have dealt with a handful of rescues over the years and sadly cannot agree with the way things are run, it all seems very egotistical and money grabbing.
There are many reasons why I began taking dogs in privately for owner surrenders and I am happy to elaborate on those, my page is a realistic view into the world of dogs and I will not pretend it’s all sunshine’s and rainbows because it very rarely is!
I will not be naming and shaming rescues publicly but will happily educate those willing to want to learn privately if you want to DM me regarding what to look for in a GOOD rescue charity and who to avoid.
Rescuing is harder than the Squid Games and you’ll likely be turned away because you didn’t own a fruit fly 5 years ago…
Despite helping rescue dogs, only 1 of my dogs are rescues, as I would rather shop for a dog that suits me and my lifestyle with specific breed traits and genetics, that’s ok, it doesn’t mean I’ll never adopt… well maybe at this rate I won’t…
If I could make it law for rescues to all have their own behaviourist on team that doesn’t put dogs down when they don’t respond to FF methods, or petition to have each dog adopted out on a case by case basis rather than a blanketed approach, ie rehome to people in flats, with children,with disabilities, then I would… but until then, I guess I’ll just do it myself 👀
One thing I will add, is although it seems I’m rescue bashing, I’m not. I’m sure there are more good rescues out there, I’m just yet to find them 🤣 I just felt the need to rant because so many dogs are passed from pillar to post or destroyed and SOME of these “charities” are adding to that problem.
I also want to specifically mention , I hope this post doesn’t upset them, because honestly they are the first and ONLY rescue charity I have found that I want to support as much as possible and I’ve not found a single flaw in the way they operate.
