Tricky technical day of mantrailing for teams Daisy, Baxter, Indie and Henry!

Today's session was entirely focused on handling back trails (including displaced starts). Completely fascinating to see four very different breeds tackle this challenge, and the advantages and disadvantages each of them has.

Junction back trails, displaced starts, decoys, and even a roundabout loop-the-loop for some!

My absolute favourite time of day to trail! Teams Arty, DeeDee, Quin and Cwtch were all out late last night enjoying a very peaceful country park. We challenged the more experienced dogs with some long trails, and put Deedee's scent discrimination to the test with a split start.

Very pleased with how they all did, and especially proud of Quin for nailing his first long trail at just under 400m with his tail held high!

Weekend mantrailing with teams Koba, Lenny, Indie, Lionel, Henry, Cwtch and Willow!

There were longer trails for the dogs out nice and early, and short trails with novel trail layer placements for those out a bit later. I heard there was even doggy ice cream for some!

12 brilliant mantrailers this weekend! Teams Cwtch, Meme, Baxter, Arty, Fletcher, Indie, Quin, Lionel, Arlo, Henry, Mabel and Bruno ⭐

It's been a weekend of very early starts to escape the heat wave - thank you all for being so flexible (especially those who travel quite far!) We've been playing with novel presentation of trail layers, working in deeply contaminated areas, and split trails.

Super proud of all the dogs but some special mentions:
☀️ Cwtch for working through some big bangs
☀️ Quin for some very brave novel hides
☀️ Arlo and Henry for working through the extremely busy picnic areas
☀️ Indie (and Emma) for perfectly modelling junction handling for a flanker
☀️ And Bruno for completing his first ever trail!

We weren't getting through a heatwave without a thermal picture! Pretty obvious which one had a dry* walk and which one had a swim - look at the difference in their ear temperatures!

Really, really grateful to live by the sea when we get a heat wave! Darwin is also modelling his new harness and grab tag, we've been on the hunt for a new set for him for a while and first impressions are good!

*The beach was way too busy for Astrid this evening. She held it together but was in a state of over arousal that prevented her from enjoying herself, so she went off for a shady park walk instead.
