Penelope was supposed to have her dental and spay yesterday 🐰

Due to a busy schedule the decision was made to move the procedure to the 1st June (Monday) so all attention can be given to Penelope and helping her wake up as safely as possible. 💕

Last month Oaticakes for Rabbits ® chose us to be the ‘rescue of the month’ 🌿

Throughout the month Oaticake customers very kindly bought packs of oaticakes for the rescue rabbits 🤩

On wednesday we received a HUGE box of Oaticakes, so many bags we don’t know where to put them 🤪. It’s fair to say the rabbits thoroughly enjoyed them!

Thank you so much to Oaticakes and your kind customers, your support means the world 🤍

We had 4 buns at the vets today!

First up was Jackson, He got his booster vaccination and a dental exam. Jackson used to be a rabbit who couldn’t go more than 4-6 weeks without dental treatment however he’s gone almost 6 months without needing one!! 🥳 Has having his next dental in a couple of weeks 🦷

Esme also got her booster vaccination, She wasn’t due for another month but we wanted to get her ready for a new exciting adventure she’s embarking on 🤍

Tiny was also seen by the vets for her booster vaccination, Tiny is 11 years old and currently the oldest rabbit here. In her life she has had little to no health problems but in recent weeks we have noticed her become stiff in her hind legs. The vets are trialling her on a small dose of medication giving us room to increase that dose if she needs it in the future.

Finally we have Toothless Rufus, who is no longer toothless 😬. Rufus’s previously extracted incisors have regrown, his CT scan did show signs of this however only time would tell if they actually did. He’s having his newly grown incisors removed in a couple of weeks.

We also picked up Penelope’s gabapentin prescription 🩺

The total for today’s vet visit was £305.92

Meet Duke, a lovely Angora. 🖤

Local followers will recognise Duke from his frequent appearances on the local community groups where he ran laps around those trying to catch him!

Duke has been a prolific escape artist. His owner tried to contain him but due to works going on next door there were lots of escape routes that were created during the building work.

His owner decided it was in Duke’s best interest to surrender him to a safe home. So yesterday after 6 weeks of his owner trying to contain him, we attended and caught Duke for the final time and took him back to the rescue.

Because he’s been out for a while he was very matted with lots of ticks imbedded in his skin. He required a full shave which took two and a half hours to safely do!

Whilst Duke’s story will likely cause upset, we want to prevent any unkind comments to the owners. They recognised that the frequent escaping wasn’t safe for Duke and did the right thing by him. 🐰

The ever so wonderful Boo & Beanz came for a groom yesterday! 💇‍♀️

They were so well behaved and they both flopped half way through 🤍

We noticed Beanz had a slight discolouration to one of her eyes, when talking to the owner it was something she also discovered the previous day, She’s now going to get Beanz seen by the vet for a check on her eye 👁️

Grooming is so important to prevent ingestion of hair whilst the rabbit is grooming themselves!
