Dear Des popped in to see our lovely vet, Dean, this morning as he’s been feeling a little under the weather. As he’s booked in for his dental next Thursday alongside Sammie Snail, Dean carried out his pre-op blood tests today, along with a thorough check-up.
As many of you know, Des is on lifelong antibiotics due to his chronic condition, and his FIV, and over the past week his dose has had to be increased to two tablets a day.
We’re now keeping everything crossed that his blood results come back satisfactory so he can go ahead with his dental as planned. Please keep our special boy in your thoughts. ❤️🐾

Some days it really does feel like everything comes at once.

Poor Hughie had to go back to the vets today after developing an infection where he recently had his dental treatment. He’s now on antibiotics and is feeling quite sorry for himself, bless him. Hopefully, with a little time and lots of TLC, he’ll soon be back to his cheeky self. Also, Des and Sammie Snail are both booked in for their dentals at the beginning of August. Sammie will also be having further blood tests to see whether he still needs to remain on insulin or if, fingers crossed, his diabetes has gone into remission and he can finally come off his injections. We are all hoping for the best.
The estimated bill for Des and Sammie’s treatment alone is around £1,100.
Every single one of these boys deserves the chance to be pain-free and healthy. Dental disease is incredibly painful for cats, yet they often hide their discomfort so well that many people don’t realise how much they’re suffering. We simply can’t leave them in pain, so we’ll always say yes to the treatment they need, no matter how daunting the cost.
Then today brought another unexpected expense. We transferred Maisie, the beautiful calico/tabby who joined us two weeks ago, into our Petlog account, only to be charged £39 because we’re not a registered charity. Sadly, there was no flexibility despite explaining that we’re a self-funded sanctuary caring for cats that are so often overlooked or turned away elsewhere. Every unexpected bill, no matter how small, stretches our finances even further.
We never like asking for help, but sometimes we simply have to.
If anyone would like to support Des and Sammie’s upcoming treatment, the greatest help would be a donation made directly to our vets towards their account. No matter how big or small, every contribution makes a genuine difference and helps us continue saying “yes” to cats who have nowhere else to go.
Your kindness allows us to keep fighting for them, and for that we are endlessly grateful.

We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the lovely people who have purchased items from our Amazon Wishlist.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve received boxes of Felix, Gourmet and Sheba, along with biscuits and bags of cat litter, and we are incredibly grateful for every single donation.
Hugo has now decided that he quite likes the renal loaf, and Curly is enjoying Hydro Care with all of his meals to help keep him hydrated. In fact, many of our elderly cats are now having Hydro Care added to their food to help increase their fluid intake and help keep them hydrated during these hot summer days and the recent heatwaves.
Your kindness and generosity make such a difference to the cats in our care, and we truly couldn’t do it without you.

Another car full of cat food has been kindly donated by the wonderful team at Jollyes Coypool. 🐾😻
As many of you know, our cats can be quite particular and unfortunately this is not a food they will eat. With the kind permission of Richard, the store manager, we’ve been able to pass a large amount of it on to Jo and Neil, who run a wildlife rescue in the South Hams, where it will be put to good use. We’ve also put some trays up for sale on our selling page to help raise funds for the cats in our care.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Jollyes Coypool for their continued kindness and support. Although our sponsorship year has now come to an end, they have continued to help us, which means so much to us and the cats.
It’s wonderful to have the support of local businesses that genuinely care about animal welfare. Thank you, Jollyes Coypool, your generosity is very much appreciated by us all. ❤️🐾

🐾❤️Our wonderful blind boy Hughie never ceases to amaze us.
Despite only being with us for one week, he has settled in with such confidence and determination. Rather than letting his blindness hold him back, Hughie has been busy learning his surroundings and creating his own little map of the world around him.
As he makes his way through the conservatory and around the plants in the garden, he gently rubs his chin along the floor and surfaces, leaving familiar scent markers to guide him. He uses his other heightened senses to navigate, remembering routes and landmarks as he explores.
Watching him confidently wander through the conservatory, weave around the plants and find his way back is truly remarkable. It is a reminder that cats experience the world with far more than just their eyes.
For a boy who has only been with us for a week, his confidence is incredible. Every day he shows us just how intelligent, adaptable and resilient he is.
Such a clever boy, and we are so proud of him. ❤️🐾

😻💚Keyham Fun Day – 8th August 💜😻

We are delighted to have been invited to attend the Keyham Fun Day on 8th August and are already busy preparing for what promises to be a fantastic day.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we almost sold out of all our raffle and tombola prizes at the St Levan Fun Day. With another event fast approaching, we are once again asking if anyone has any bottles of alcohol or gift sets they would be willing to donate.
