Day 7: The Great Outdoors
Nature offers endless opportunities for movement, relaxation, and discovery. Getting outside isn’t just about exercise - it’s also a chance to breathe fresh air, soak up sunlight (maybe not this week!), and stimulate your pet’s senses with new sights, smells, and sounds.
For pets, outdoor adventures encourage natural behaviors like sniffing, climbing, or hopping. For you, it’s a fantastic way to clear your mind, boost your mood, and enjoy the beauty of the world around you.
Day 7 Challenge: 30-Minute Outdoor Adventure
🐶 With Your Dog:
Explorer: Take your dog on a 30-minute walk, trying a route you’ve never taken before.
Sniffari Walk: Let your dog lead the way, stopping to sniff and explore their surroundings. This mental stimulation is just as valuable as physical exercise.
Park Play: Visit a dog-friendly park to play fetch, practice recall training, or meet other dogs.
🐱 With Your Cat:
If your cat is an outdoor cat, you’ve already got this covered! If not, create a safe outdoor enclosure or “catio” if you have one, and spend time outside together.
🐰 With Your Small Pet:
Set up a safe, enclosed outdoor playpen for your rabbit, guinea pig, or ferret. Add tunnels, toys, or fresh grass to explore.
Stay close to supervise and ensure their environment is secure from predators or escape routes.
🐦 With Your Bird:
Take your bird to a secure outdoor aviary or harness them (if trained) for short flights or exploration.
Let them perch in a shady spot where they can listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy the fresh air.
🐢 With Your Reptile (when the weather improves 😅):
Allow your reptile to bask in a secure, sunny spot for natural UV exposure. Ensure the area is enclosed and predator-safe.
Place climbing rocks or branches in the space for enrichment.
Don’t forget to take a photo or short video of your walk or playtime - share it on this post or on your own social media using ❤️
