What is cytology? Is a question I am asked often.

Vaginal cytology in a dog is used to estimate the time of ovulation. This is a common technique breeders choose to use, and while it doesnā€™t give an exact ovulation time, itā€™s very helpful for timing matings and knowing when your bitch is ready to go to the stud.

It is a simple vaginal swab, that is combined with chemicals to observe the cells distribution & determine the stage of season the bitch is currently at.

Itā€™s far less invasive than progesterone testing, and instant results!

One of the down sides to breedingā€¦

One of our own puppies has been showing symptoms of fading puppy syndrome. FPS is something that canā€™t be prevented and often results in the puppy becoming weaker and weaker and eventually dieing. One of the huge tell tale signs is the cry along with weight loss. Our little one was below his birth weight regardless of his efforts to feed. His suck just wasnā€™t strong enough.

Anyone who has heard the fading puppy cry will know how heartbreaking it is, that high pitched continuous cry I heard in my sleep all night last night.

Our little boy is such a fighter though, I started tube feeding him every 2 hours and heā€™s getting stronger. Hopefully he will be back to nursing on his own soon but itā€™s baby steps until then. Taking each hour as it comes,incubation,observation and intensive care. Itā€™s exhausting and heartbreaking but i always give every puppy every chance I can.

This is a service we offer. Tube feeding should only be done by trained professionals with experience as itā€™s hard to know if the tube is in the lungs or the stomach. Milk deposited in the lungs or trachea is fatal.

Should you not require "hands on" litter birthing assistance we also offer virtual whelping assistance.
This covers questions and queries throughout pregnancy and birthing including video calls during the birthing and guidance as needed. We can talk you through how to birth a puppy and revival and other tips and tricks you may need at time of birth. We also provide you with a list of all things needed prior to the birth to ensure a smooth transition so you are fully prepared. This is a PREBOOKABLE service only.

Platinum whelping service is set at Ā£350 for up to 10 hours and then Ā£50 per hour if longer is required. We are fully experienced & trained in advanced whelping. Once your girl is in the final stages of labour we sit with & fully assist her, as she welcomes her new babies into the world. We provide puppy resuscitation, have equipment on hand & our ultrasound machine to check for any undelivered puppies and retained placentas. Our own full, sterile whelping kit is provided to assist delivery. This is provided in the comfort of your own home.
This is a PRE BOOKABLE service only and deposit must be paid to confirm booking. as its a 24hr service. This also covers any questions and queries throughout the pregnancy and a list of all things needed prior to birthing can be provided.
