I’m a half wild rabbit.
What is a half wild rabbit?
My mum was someone’s pet bunny, a gift for a special day. They said my mum was so cute! And they promised to look after her forever. They said to the shop person that they knew all about bunnies and what they needed. My mum was so ready to get out of that horrible shop and be free and loved.
My mum was a very loved bunnny, but not for very long. The shop people sadly didn’t do any proper checks to make sure the humans were committed to looking after my mum. The human said they were tired of cleaning up my mummy’s mess. They said they didn’t want to pay the vets bills, they were too expensive. They promised to look after my mummy forever, but apparently forever was too long.
The humans got “bored” of my mummy. They put her in the car and took her to a strange place. They placed her on the ground and drove away. My mum was very scared. There were scary smells and strange noises. In the night, foxes came, my mummy nearly didn’t make it.
Then she met a wild rabbit, that’s my dad. Wild rabbits are very shy of people and have good natural built in survival skills.
One day some kind people saw my mummy and took her in. A week later she had me, and my brothers and sisters.
At first we were like all baby rabbits. Cute, curious and quite friendly. But as we got older, our wild genes became a lot more obvious and we were very shy of people. It wasn’t our fault, it’s in our dna. We didn’t want head scratches and strokes, and we were a stressed in a busy normal size rabbit home.
That’s when we came here, to LP. We now have a lovely space, no contact (apart from yearly check up and vaccines, which our new human says is vital to keep us safe)
People don’t find us as cute as full domestic rabbits, and our new humans say it’s difficult to get help to pay for what we need. But they will never give up on us! This is our safe place forever💚

Please don’t dump your domestic rabbits. It causes way more homeless and unwanted rabbits than just one.
