Whilst wild walking can be exciting, it doesn't come without risks. These risks include; attacks from strange off lead dogs, dog thefts, discarded litter and dogs getting lost. That's why every single one of our walks is carried out in a variety of privately rented secure fields. This allows each dog the chance to

have free roaming fun regardless of recall and you have peace of mind your loved one is safe.

Not only does your dog need exercise, it needs the opportunity to drain energy, play and spend time with its own kind to learn essential manners and doggy etiquette. Using only positive enforcement techniques we work with your dog to improve recall, social skills & play positively. Before returning home you, every effort is made to ensure each dog has received the appropriate after walk care needed. In sludgy winter months this might involve a warm shampoo, wash & dry and on hot summer days cool washes, cold drinks & cooling towels. Clients are notified of the exact time their dog is picked up & dropped back home via a WhatsApp Group, that can include up to 3 people of your choosing. After each session up to 5 videos/ photos are sent to the WhatsApp group. We do not expect a response to these messages, these are for you to enjoy at a time that suits you. If you think your dog would enjoy our sessions then please say hello and tell me a little about yourself. The first step is to arrange a home visit which typically takes no more than 30 minutes. This is so we can get to know each other and learn things like; where the leads are kept, where the dog should be collected from/ returned to and where we can park. We'll also complete a few bits of paperwork for insurance purposes and set up a free trial session where you can bring your dog along to one of the sessions.

I’m not going to do a big apology or explanation about how the dogs welfare always comes first

It’s too fu***ng hot, again.

I’m jiggling everything around as much as I can to get everyone walked as early as possible. Where I can’t squeeze you in for a walk, I’ll offer a pop in visit.

Unfortunately, I have as much control over the weather as I do over temporary traffic lights 💁‍♀️😉🤦‍♀️

Despite my best efforts (which include rain dancing and praying to the weather gods to stop this insanity), it’s going to get even hotter.

With temperatures expected to be hotter than Mexico for the rest of the week - walks will also be cancelled Thursday and Friday.

Please let me know if you want me to pop in to visit your dog at home whilst you’re at work.

In the meantime I’ll carry on doing my little rain dance and looking up survival tips on money saving expert.

🥵 NEXT WEEK – HOT WEATHER PLANNING 🐻🐾

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love what I do, and as a small business owner, reducing or cancelling services is never an easy decision. Every missed day has an impact, but there is one thing that will always come before anything else…

❤️ The dogs.

You trust me with your dogs, and I take that responsibility incredibly seriously. When temperatures rise, it’s not just the time spent out on walks that needs considering. I also have to think about time spent travelling. Even with air conditioning, a van full of warm, panting dogs can quickly become a risk in these conditions, and their safety will always come first.

☀️ The plan for next week:

Monday
🐾 Morning Group Walk ONLY, with pick-ups starting from 7am.
🐾 Lunchtime pop-in visits available for dogs that will be home alone.

Tuesday
🐾 Pop-in visits ONLY.

Wednesday
🐾 Pop-in visits ONLY.

I’ll continue to monitor the forecast and will keep everyone updated regarding the rest of the week as things develop.

If your dog will be home alone and you’d like them to have a comfort break, some company and, of course, a cuddle, please let me know. Pop-in visits can be booked individually or you can arrange two visits to break up the day.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding and for continuing to support Big Bear Dog Walking. It really is appreciated, and I’m grateful to have such wonderful clients who understand that welfare will always come first.

One of my favourite things about being my own boss and running my own business is having the freedom to put my clients first.

I could fill every group space every day and take on more new dogs, but I choose not to. Instead, I deliberately keep some flexibility available for my existing clients because I know that great service isn’t just about looking after dogs – it’s about supporting the people who love them too.

Life doesn’t always go to plan. Sometimes someone is unwell, work schedules suddenly change, a family emergency comes up, or they simply need to be out of town for the day. Almost every day I receive messages from clients needing a little extra help, and I genuinely love being able to say, “Don’t worry, I’ve got you.”

For me, offering flexibility and support isn’t an added extra – it’s part of the service. Knowing that I can help make life a little easier for the families who trust me with their dogs is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do, and it’s something I’ll never take for granted. ❤️🐾

Would you like to learn canine first aid? Tegan’s Mummy (from Little Bears) is holding a fabulous chance for owners to attend a local training opportunity ⛑️🐾

After a very successful first go at organizing a owner oriented canine first aid training - I have booked both room and trainer again for 4th July, as I know a lot of people wanted to join us for the one in May.

If you want to book on, let me know and I will add you to my list!

This weather really hits our industry hard.

Over the last few days, many of us in the dog industry have had to make the decision to cancel classes, workshops, walks, training sessions, daycare activities and events.

As small businesses, every cancellation has an impact. We lose income, spend hours rearranging schedules, and often absorb costs that can’t be recovered.

But dog welfare will always come first.

No class, walk, workshop or training session is worth putting a dog at risk. When temperatures soar, our responsibility is to keep dogs safe, even when it’s the harder business decision.

So today, I’d love to shine a light on the amazing small businesses who are also putting welfare first. If you know a dog trainer, walker, daycare, groomer, physio, hydrotherapist, pet sitter or any other pet professional who has been affected by the heat, tag them below and give them a follow.

Supporting small businesses costs nothing, but it can make a huge difference.

Let’s show some love to the people who spend every day caring for our dogs. ❤️🐾

Happy bank holiday weekend everyone, hope you all get to relax and enjoy some sunshine!

The van is back in action with a sparkly new gearbox and even a little wash! The fields have been spruced up ready to see everyone next week.

Thank you to everyone for accommodating the emergency time off. Despite being a little under the weather I’ve had a lovely week of relaxing and taking Lola on little adventures to build her confidence in public.

Have a great long weekend and see you all Tuesday! ❤️🐻🧸🐾
