๐Ÿ’šSince day one of Stonebridge City Farm & Gardens we have relied on the generosity of volunteers and 2026 is no different. Today we welcome around 160 volunteers on site week.

This Volunteers' Week we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has given up their time to help the farm, past, present and future. We really wouldn't be where we are without you ๐Ÿฅฐ

Meet one of our incredible volunteers ๐ŸŒฑ

When they joined Stonebridge City Farm & Gardens, they were looking for something many young people struggle to find: meaningful work experience. What they found was so much more ๐Ÿฅฐ

"The best part of volunteering here is the community and the people."

Volunteering gives young people the chance to build confidence, develop workplace skills, gain practical experience, and become part of a supportive community. These opportunities can be life-changing, especially at a time when many young people face barriers to employment.

In England, around 840,000 young people aged 16โ€“24 were not in education, employment or training (NEET) in 2025 โ€“ that's more than 1 in 8 young people. Nationally, the figure is close to one million. Recent reports also show that many young people who are NEET have never had a job, highlighting just how important early opportunities and work experience can be.

Every volunteer at Stonebridge City Farm & Gardens gains valuable experience while helping to care for our green spaces, support local projects, and strengthen our community.

We're proud to provide a place where young people can learn, grow, and take their next steps towards employment. ๐Ÿ’š

This volunteer started at the farm to get out the house more

Since volunteering not only have they been getting out of the house more, her confidence has improved and she loves feeling part of their community๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

She's always getting stuck in a variety of projects on the farm, from painting murals to training the guinea pigs ๐Ÿน Yes you heard that right, she wanted the Guinea Pigs to feel more comfortable being handled during their health checks and each week spends time with them to get used to humans ๐Ÿฅฐ

Not matter what your reason for starting volunteering, Stonebridge nurtures plenty of reasons to stay ๐Ÿ’š

We are not currently recruiting for volunteers but we will be looking for cafe and barn volunteers soon
