Meet one of our incredible volunteers ๐ฑ
When they joined Stonebridge City Farm & Gardens, they were looking for something many young people struggle to find: meaningful work experience. What they found was so much more ๐ฅฐ
"The best part of volunteering here is the community and the people."
Volunteering gives young people the chance to build confidence, develop workplace skills, gain practical experience, and become part of a supportive community. These opportunities can be life-changing, especially at a time when many young people face barriers to employment.
In England, around 840,000 young people aged 16โ24 were not in education, employment or training (NEET) in 2025 โ that's more than 1 in 8 young people. Nationally, the figure is close to one million. Recent reports also show that many young people who are NEET have never had a job, highlighting just how important early opportunities and work experience can be.
Every volunteer at Stonebridge City Farm & Gardens gains valuable experience while helping to care for our green spaces, support local projects, and strengthen our community.
We're proud to provide a place where young people can learn, grow, and take their next steps towards employment. ๐
