Our furry friends got all dressed up for Christmas to spread some holiday cheer—and maybe hint that their biggest wish isn’t treats (okay… maybe a few treats)… it’s support for the rescue! ❤️

Did you know?

The axolotl is closely related to the tiger salamander. Axolotls are unusual among amphibians in that they reach adulthood without undergoing metamorphosis;
Instead of taking to the land, adults remain aquatic and gilled.

The species was originally found in several lakes underlying what is now Mexico City, such as Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco. These lakes were drained by Spanish settlers after the conquest of the Aztec Empire, leading to the destruction of much of the axolotl's natural habitat.
Axolotls are used extensively in scientific research due to their ability to regenerate limbs, gills, and parts of their eyes and brains.
The axolotl is carnivorous, consuming small prey such as molluscs, worms, insects, other arthropods, and small fish in the wild. Axolotls locate food by smell and will "snap" at any potential meal, sucking the food into their stomachs with vacuum force.

We still have 3 beautiful geckos in much need of loving forever homes.

They each have their own quirky personality traits so feel free to message for more info regarding them and their stories 🥰

They require a minimum 45x45x60cm tall enclosure with overhead heat controlled by thermostat, and a reputable form of linear uvb.
We are more than happy to help guide new keepers towards the perfect set up and help with understanding care needs, and ongoing Q&A support.

Looking for a kind volunteer to help with transporting a 4x2x2 vivarium from Whitechapel to Northolt 🙏 We are happy to put towards petrol if needed 👌

We have graciously been offered the tank and accessories by a very kind woman, so long as we can arrange collection ASAP.

**Update- collection needs to be this weekend, or next Saturday.**

Help would be truly appreciated by our most recent surrender, who could do with the upgrade 💗

HOME FOUND 🥰🤩

URGENT REHOME NEEDED

We are requesting an urgent rehome for one of our female axolotl, Queenie. Age unknown but estimated at around 4years
She came to us around a year ago with spotted scarring caused by unfortunate husbandry.
She requires a tank ALONE as she has recently decided to nip at the other girls, making her unsuitable for cohabitation.

Will need a minimum 2.5ft long (Cycled) tank. She is currently fed on a variety of earthworms (tiger, debonendra, lobs) and, as with all our rescues, is looking for a PET ONLY home.

*Rescues should not be bred due to lack of genetic history and potential risk of inbreeding (especially within the axolotl community)*
