🐈meet Winston🐈
It is finally time that i introduce you all to my very own kitty. In honour of him I thought I’d tell a little bit about him, his story & how we adopted him.

In June of 2022 me & my family decided that we wanted to adopt a cat, so we got looking & immediately fell in love with Winston. We arranged to meet him at Animals In Need Northamptonshire. When we first met him, he was very shy & timid. We spent about an hour with him, we left conflicted - however we couldn’t stop thinking about his cute little face and adopted him the same day!
We don’t know much from his previous owners/or life but it was assumed that he was roughly 1 year old at the time of adoption , which now would make him 4 years old now!!
We worked on building his confidence with people, going outside, etc. Slowly but surely Winston began building relationships with not only us but our family and loved going outside!
However this all changed on the 22nd of December 2023. It was 6am and my mum had let him out as usual, not long after she had noticed he had came back in but was limping & bleeding. We assumed he had somehow broken his leg but he was in a lot of pain & was hiding. Due to the time of the incident, no vets were open so we had to wait until our vets opened an hour later and took him straight for an emergency appointment where he had tests & scans.
It was then that the vets had rang us & said that the x-rays showed that it was likely Winston had been shot. There was metal in his leg & the way his bone was shattered was consistent with being shot at.
We were left with 2 options; a surgery likely to be unsuccessful to try and fix the leg, or amputation. We decided his best chance was with amputation.
Winston then went in for his surgery & we had him back 2 days later.
The first few weeks & that Christmas was extremely hard. We hated seeing him like that, on loads of medication, scared, confused.
But eventually things were looking up. Winston ended up making a complete recovery and is now completely returned to his normal self (sometimes I don’t even think he knows he’s missing a leg😂)
He is still a little shy but I wouldn’t change him for the world, he’s my baby. 🐈🫶
