A topic that we all really don't want to have is that of loss of our faithful companions & pet's. It is however something that we all know is inevitable at a point in time. Although this certainly doesn't make it any easier.

I have over the years of being a veterinary physio, supported many of my clients through this journey. For some its a prolonged worry about loss with chronic ailments & advancing year's. For some it's a sudden loss & shock that can be traumatic or even less expected. Even rehoming a pet or their disappearance are counted in the experience of loss.

I hope I have been compassionate, supportive & fair in my guiding of all the guardians during these times. It's definitely something that needs to be spoken about.

That is death, loss, dying, passing over & all the variations & situations that could arise. The more we normalise chatting, talking, preparing or even planning, then the understanding & coping of this life to death event is in some way a little less fearful.

It certainly won't take the hurt, pain, grief & loss away. But it may make it a bit easier.

A big area not always discussed is that of pet cremation. It can be easier to allow your veterinary practice to arrange this once the time has come.

A new local business has been established that is dedicated to the compassionate pet cremation services. Cherished Companion is based in Glossop and for those local, can provide assistance in arranging at home euthanasia, or collection from home or the vet.

They have a number of beautiful casks, urns and baskets for your beloved pet's ashes to return home as well as special keepsakes.

Isobel wanted to introduce herself and give you a background into her life and interests!! 🤗
"I have always loved animals since being a child. We had a few guinea pigs and hamsters as pets but my parents wouldn’t allow anything bigger. As soon as I got my first job, I got my first horse Dante a retired trekking centre and riding school pony, I then had 2 more horses- Oliver and Diktatorship (Dikkie). I mainly did local showjumping/riding club shows/dressage with Oliver and Dikkie and also some BE eventing with Dikkie. Unfortunately I have lost both of them.
When I moved out of my parents house I got my first dog- a crazy hyper staffy called Wilson who lived til he was 13 and then a staffy x lab called Marley who I lost just over a year ago age 14. Marley was a real softy who just loved hiking in the peaks. Hopefully a new doggy will be joining me this year.
My other long time hobby was running I have completed a few 10ks, half marathons and one marathon. I am planing to run at least 1 half marathon again this year.
Lastly my life is very busy looking after my 2yr old boy. He is very active, loves being outside (like me) and is spending as much time as we can visiting farms and meeting lots of animals".
