It is proving to be a dreadful year for ticks. So an added layer of protection is always a good idea.
Maybe you live in a high tick area, regularly walk in meadows or woodland, or where there is a high population of deer. Or you might have started Nature's Bounty later than February and need a bit of extra protection before the herbs get into the system.

💙Nature's Bounty is the everyday essential from February until the winter months to protect from fleas, ticks and mites. I would suggest not missing out the two days a week this year and feed for 7 days a week for the summer months.

🪳Ticked Off is a beautifully made natural spray using the highest quality essential oils. It is available in 2 sizes, and the small bottle is ideal to fit in a pocket, rucksack or bag. The ingredients are human-grade, so ideal for your own protection too.

Learn more about Hawthorn's medicinal power and folklore traditions in the blog I wrote for CAM4animals. It features my horse self selecting new hawthorn shoots from the hedgerow in spring. 🌿🌸

With its wonderful healing properties, Hawthorn is also great for wildlife, decorating our hedgerows with 'May' blossom & red autumn berries

The queen of the hedgerow is in its glory on this first day of May ~ Beltane. Traditionally, the day a fire festival was held to cast out the old and bring in the new.
Hawthorn is steeped in history and magical folklore with strong links to the fairy realm.
Its delicate, beautiful blossom offers more nectar to pollinators than any other plant and is a lifesaver for bees at this time of year.
Medicinally, it is prized as a heart tonic, and the leaves, blossom & berries bring many health benefits as we travel through the calendar of the year.
There is a definite shift felt in the season this morning, and tonight is the first full moon of May, called the flower moon, with another coming at the end of the month.

🌿In May’s first fire, at Beltane crowned queen,
🌸Where fairy paths in hawthorn bloom are seen,
🌿An ancient tree in folklore brightly stays,
🌸With magic stirring through the turning days.

The beautiful handmade soap is here🧼
There are two different varieties to choose from this time:
One has bug-busting essential oils, which are great to add to the flea and tick repelling regime, and the other is for the sensitive soul that needs a very soothing and plain soap that contains oats but no essential oils.
There are also some natural sisal string bags on the shop which you can pop the soap bar into to wash your dog, or simply use it to store and hang the soap after use.

Here is the link: Choose which bar you want from the drop-down menu. Happy bath time! https://www.hedgerowhounds.co.uk/products/p/natural-dog-soap

Did you know that bees can see shades of purple more easily than other colours? And it just so happens that the top herbs you can plant for pollinators are all purple!
Who wouldn't want these glorious shades of blue, lilac and violet in their garden?
They also offer food for the bees throughout the year rather than a sudden flush of nectar.

💜Early offerings would be violets, rosemary, lungwort, purple dead nettle, clover, ground ivy, self heal and comfrey.
💙Then come along borage, chives, thyme, marjoram, hyssop, vervain, and verbena.
🩷And hot on their heels is lavender, vipers bugloss, cranesbill, sage, and thistles.

How many could you include in your garden?

It could be as simple as growing lavender, thyme, and rosemary in pots or troughs.

Up next is the second favourite colour of the bees, which is shades of yellow💛
