Patch in his favourite sleeping spot. He likes to be up high and look about over everyone. I wonder if it is also a little cooler and breezier up there while it is so hot.

Do you remember this lovely boar? He has changed colour! He was pure white.

Unfortunately, Arthur has been in rescue for longer than expected. He came in from a neglectful home earlier this year. He has a good home waiting for him but he developed a fungal infection that has been rather persistent and is still being treated. Hopefully he will get to his new home and have company soon.

Today Bacon is taking Bruno home to continue their bonding journey.

These two lovely boys have both been lonely since losing their previous companions, so seeing them getting along well has been rewarding. I am hoping this friendship continues as they settle in together.

Please keep your fingers crossed for Bacon and Bruno 🀞

Boar date update. Bacon has come to rescue for a short stay to see if he gets on with any of the lonely boys here. If so, he will take them home with him. He initially met Stan and that did get on well for quite some time but Stan liked Bacon a bit too much and Bacon was getting a bit tired so I decided to cease with that bond. Now Bacon is meeting Bruno and they have had a night together and all is going well. They seem to be a better match and are both quite calm and keen to mind their own business. So fingers crossed 🀞

Guinea pig reviewed and approved HAY

Good quality hay is one of the most important parts of guinea pig care. It should make up most of their diet and helps support digestion, dental health, and natural foraging behaviours.

This is the meadow hay I’ve used for over 10 years at the rescue because it’s consistently fresh, green, soft, and the guinea pigs absolutely love it.

So much bagged hay is brown, dusty, or stale smelling. Good hay really is worth investing in and isn't really any more expensive than poor quality pet store hay.

This 9 kg bale of meadow hay is Β£19 with next day delivery and lasts a pair of guinea pigs a long time too.
