🚨 HEAT STROKE IN DOGS 🚨

If your dog is showing signs of heat stroke, they NEED veterinary intervention 🩺

But here is the mistake owners often make:

❌ Throwing the dog straight into the car and driving immediately.

✅ COOL FIRST. VET SECOND.

Every minute a dog remains dangerously overheated, damage is being done internally ⚠️

🧊 WHAT TO DO:

➡️ Move the dog out of the heat
➡️ Call the vet while cooling starts

🐶 Small dogs / young dogs:
Fully submerge in COLD water if possible, keeping the mouth and nose clear.

🐕 Large dogs:
Pour COLD water all over them FAST.

🪣 Buckets
🚿 Hosepipe
🛁 Bath
🧴 Cold bottles from the fridge

💨 Use fans or airflow while cooling.

❌ DO NOT cover the dog with wet towels.
They can trap heat.

🚗 THEN get to the vet.

⚠️ EARLY WARNING SIGNS:

▪️ Heavy panting
▪️ Drooling
▪️ Bright red gums
▪️ Restlessness
▪️ Weakness
▪️ Vomiting
▪️ Diarrhoea
▪️ Wobbling

🚨 HEAT STROKE EMERGENCY:

▪️ Collapse
▪️ Seizures
▪️ Confusion
▪️ Difficulty breathing
▪️ Blue/purple gums
▪️ Loss of consciousness

❗️This is NOT a wait and see situation.

🧊 Cool immediately
📞 Call the vet
🩺 Get emergency treatment

Fast action saves lives 🚨

Please can everyone look after there dogs, unfortunately I’m seeing too many people walking there dogs in temperatures that can be life threatening.

The best advice I have got from a vet is “if you want your dog to live a long, happy life don’t wear it out” most dogs don’t need daily walks as much as they are lovely exercise you can also do other things such as

- indoor/ garden training
- lick mats, hiding treats etc for mental stimulation
- rest! We all need some rest 😴

Mental stimulation for a dog can wear them out just as much as going for a walk, some dogs actually prefer it.

Please all stay hydrated and keep yourself and your animals safe ✨🐾
