A farewell update and a massive thank you.
Tomorrow, I start a new contract as a full time permanent sales operations coordinator, so going forward I will sadly be unlikely to be able to help with your doggies or moggies.
Truth be told, I have only been able to help with the odd few walks and drop-ins here and there since last June. I started the business with the best intentions just over a year ago, but didn't quite account for lots of realities, of which here are just a few:
*I didn't realise how anxiety jangling it would be going into people's homes and looking after their precious family members.
*I didn't realise just how competitive it would be to get new regular dogs to sign up.
*I didn't realise how quickly blitzing through my savings would stress me out and how important having financial security was to me.
When my old team leader rang and asked me to go back for a few weeks temping last June, the thought of a few weeks on a proper wage was just too much of a good thing to pass up. I was six months into the business and still had very few weekly walks and my savings were disappearing faster than the new dogs were signing up. I went back to the office job four days per week, keeping Wednesday free for my few regular bookings.
The long and short of that was two weeks, turned into a month, turned into two months, turned into four months, then six, but nothing ever definite enough to update this business page or admit to myself that I wasn't coming back to pick up where I left off with the business.
To my top supporters and taggers in Newest Newquay posts, Shelley Lorna Wright, James Hare Imdt, Tuesday Gale. Thank you so much for believing in me at the time, that meant the world. Sorry for not being clearer about where I was with the business. I've been living month to month for a while now.
To all the customers who trusted me with their gorgeous furry friends when I was trying to grow the business. Thank you too.
From tomorrow, I finally switch back to a full time permanent contract with the company I've worked for (on and off), for over five years now. I love my work friends and am so glad to have that security back. Even though I'm sad to draw a line under my brief delve into animal care and self employment, I'm glad for a more definite future and not stressing about whether I locked your front door or not, even though I triple checked it...
