A slightly belated but HUGE thanks to all the clients, colleagues and family who donated to this wonderful cause! On the 24th of May, I ran the Edinburgh Marathon in a scorching 23 degrees. I can't say it was easy but together we raised £384 for Pet Blood Bank UK, which will help provide life-saving blood for those dogs (and soon cats) who need it. xx Pru

☀️🐹 HOT WEATHER SAFETY FOR SMALL FURRIES 🐰☀️

Our tiny companions can struggle in the heat too! Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, ferrets, and other small pets are very sensitive to high temperatures, so extra care is essential during warm weather.

💧 Make sure they always have fresh, cool water
🌬️ Keep enclosures in a cool, shaded, well-ventilated area
❄️ Use cooling mats, frozen water bottles wrapped in towels, or ceramic tiles for them to lie against
☀️ Keep cages out of direct sunlight
🥬 Offer water-rich veggies in moderation to help hydration
🧹 Clean enclosures regularly, as heat can make smells and bacteria build up faster

⚠️ Watch for signs of overheating: • Rapid breathing or panting
• Lethargy or weakness
• Drooling or wetness around the mouth
• Red ears (especially in rabbits)
• Loss of appetite

🚫 Never place small pets in conservatories, sheds, or enclosed outdoor hutches during extreme heat without proper cooling and airflow.

A little extra attention can keep our small furries happy, healthy, and safe all summer long 🐾❤️

☀️🐾 HOT WEATHER PET SAFETY REMINDER 🐾☀️

As temperatures rise, our furry friends need extra care to stay safe and comfortable. Here are a few important reminders for pet owners:

🐶 Always provide fresh, cool water
🌳 Keep pets in shaded or air-conditioned areas
🚶 Walk dogs early morning or later evening to avoid hot pavement
🚗 Never leave pets in parked cars — even for a few minutes
🐾 Check pavement with your hand before walks — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws
🥵 Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse

Remember: pets can overheat much faster than humans. A little extra care can save lives this summer ❤️

A young entire male black-and-white cat has been handed in this afternoon. He seems quite relaxed, but is a little bit sore around his pelvis so has been given some pain relief. Please contact us ASAP if you think he might be yours. 🐾🐈‍⬛😞

Our vet Pru is taking on the Edinburgh Marathon today in support of Pet Blood Bank UK ❤️🩸

After months of training we’re so proud of her for running to raise money for such an important cause that helps save dogs’ lives across the UK.

☀️ Warm Weather Advice for Your Pooches ☀️
With some lovely weather on the way, please remember to keep your dogs safe in the heat 🐶💛

Avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day
Check the pavement — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
Make sure fresh water and shade are always available
Never leave your dog in a parked car

Keep an eye on temperatures and adjust your routine to keep them cool and comfortable.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be closing our TRURO branch a little earlier than usual today at 4:30pm.

Our phones will be diverted to our Newquay practice, so we are still here to help if you need us.
