Staffordshire Bull Terrier Training

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Training My aim is to promote better understanding, knowledge, care and training with this often mis-understood breed. Many years ago, I met my now husband.

As a Staffordshire Bull Terrier specialist my dog training ethos involves using my head; science-based methods and knowledge and my heart; using kindness, love and ethical ways to help your Staffordshire Bull Terrier progress and be happy. Hello my name is Debbie,

I have been running my dog training under DogsPaws Behavioural Training for some years now working with all breeds but now have decid

ed have a special place just for Staffordshire Bull Terriers and the work I do with this wonderful breed. I help prevent problems and provide solutions, guidance and advice. I know first hand how special that bond between a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and their carer is so I'm here to give you help and advise to strengthen your relationship with your furry best friend and ensure you live happily together. I, like many others have grown up with animals and as an adult have had dogs, cats, rabbits and even pet mice (not all at once). At that time, he had two lovely young dogs, one deaf male Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross American Bulldog (or so we believe his mix to be) and one female Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I got to know and love these dogs as my own. I wanted to feed my curiosity about dogs. I started my journey to find out how dogs learn and communicate, about different breeds, their natural instincts, their behaviour and much more. It has sent me on a journey of learning and discovery, attending many courses and seminars listening and learning from world respected animal behaviourists and dog trainers. I have worked alongside excellent dog trainers and behaviourists, starting off shadowing them and then assisting in classes. Learning as much as I could along the way. This learning journey continues, for me life is a continued learning experience. My working history has been in the forensic field for over 14 years, examining and analysing crime scenes, problem solving and finding solutions. I looked at what was in front of me, working out what has happened, where, why and how. So how does this transfer over to the dog training world? In the forensic world I used science-based theories and knowledge to help understand why and how things happened, how to solve problems and provide solutions. In dog training, I used science based theories to provide me with the understanding of how dogs learn, behave and communicate. This method enables me to help a dog become a happy member of your family. Dog training has changed a lot over the years. There is so much information available to us about how kind, positive science based training methods have been shown to work much better than previous ways of dog training, ensuring that your dog always has a choice. So, for me my dog training ethos involves using my head; science based methods and knowledge and my heart; using kindness, love and ethical ways to help your dog progress and be happy. I am really excited to share this with you and to work alongside you to ensure your dog has a happy, full-filled life with you and your family. I am a proud member of the following organisations who promote and endorse ethical training methods in dog training:
IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers)
Pet Professional Guild (UK)
ICAN (International Companion Animal Network) - affiliate member. I am fully insured and will provide a follow up report on our consultation/training and support during the time we are working together.

What does a karate belt have to do with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier Behaviour and Training page?

Well... one of my wonderful Staffie clients spoke of a brilliant tip the other day during our 1 to 1 session.

Using old karate belts as a tug toy for your Staffie!!

As your child/adults in your household/other households go up a grade (improve their skills) they receive a new coloured belt.

Instead of throwing the old one outโ€ฆ

So simply tie a knot in the belt and go and have some good, fun tug play!

As Spring has now fully sprung, we're here to warn you about the potential dangers of garden snacking. Pets are notorious munchers of plant life but it's important to know what to keep them away from. Should the worst happen, here's what to do if your dog is poisoned: https://bit.ly/3D59MJb
