Last Monday, our vet Matt and nurse Amelia had the pleasure of judging the Kingsclere Church fete Dog Show 🐾✨

It was such a wonderful community event, and we were delighted to see so many familiar faces (and meet a few new ones too!). From wagging tails to big personalities, every dog brought something special to the day.

With so many fantastic entries, choosing winners was no easy task — each and every dog was a star in their own right 🐶🤎

Being part of the local community is really important to us, and we feel very lucky to have been involved in such a fun celebration! 🥇 🐕

⚠️ Meet Blake, a 9-year-old German Shepherd who was rushed to us out of hours after his owner spotted signs of bloat.
Our on call vet Laura and nurse Amelia, quickly confirmed he was suffering from Gastric Dilation Volvulus (GDV) – a life-threatening condition where the stomach fills with gas and twists.

GDV develops fast and without urgent treatment, it can be fatal. Blake’s quick-thinking owner and our onsite round-the-clock care made all the difference, meaning we were able to diagnose and treat Blake immediately.

If you have a large or deep-chested breed, like a German Shepherd, Great Dane or Doberman, knowing the signs of GDV could save their life. 🐾

 Hyperthyroidism is one of the most common hormonal conditions affecting older cats — and the signs can be easy to miss. Weight loss, changes in appetite, increased thirst or restlessness could all be red flags.

As our practice continues to grow, so do our patients!

Some of the very first puppies through our doors have been celebrating their first birthdays recently, and it’s been an absolute joy watching them grow into happy, healthy young adults (some even outgrowing our armchair already!)

We’re so proud to be part of their journey and can’t wait to make many more memories with them in the years to come. 🤎🐾
