Last Saturday we sadly said goodbye to our beautiful Lola.

We adopted Lola 5 and a half years ago, when she was 8 years old. From the moment she came into our lives she brought a kind of love that is hard to put into words. Loyal, gentle, a little bit stubborn in true Staffy fashion, and always ready with a cuddle or a kiss.

She wasn’t just a dog. She was my companion through some of the hardest years of my life.

On days when everything felt heavy and leaving the house felt impossible, Lola still needed her walk. She still needed her routine, her little adventures and her place by my side. Without even knowing it, she kept me going through it all. Step by step, walk by walk, she helped me keep moving forward and showed me what unconditional love really looks like.

In so many ways she shaped the life I have now. The outlook I have, the walks I take every day, and the path that eventually led to Cogan’s Canine Care all started with her. Because of Lola I’ve also met some incredible people, formed friendships and slowly built my own little chosen family. She brought so much more into my world than I ever could have imagined.

Lola was there through grief, life events and change, and through moments where I felt completely lost. She was constant. She was steady. She was home.

She left this world peacefully at home, surrounded by so much love.

My heart is completely broken, but also full of gratitude for the years I was lucky enough to share with her. Adopting her when she was already 8 was one of the best decisions I ever made, and I would choose her again every single time.

Thank you for everything and all the adventures we went on together Lola.

Even though you are gone, you continue to keep me going. I will be forever grateful for the time I had with you. You were everything I had.

Run free my little fox 🦊

Monday Meet: Gino💚🐾

This week’s Monday Meet is Gino.

Gino is a gorgeous brown cocker spaniel puppy with the softest ears and a whole lot of curiosity🐶🤎

I’ve been doing a mix of home sits and walks for Gino, and it’s been lovely getting to support him both in his home environment and out exploring the world. At this age it’s all about building confidence, routine and positive experiences, always at his pace.

Gino absolutely loves having cuddles while playing with his toys, the perfect mix of affection and puppy energy. From cosy time at home to short sniffy & social walks, he takes everything in with wide eyes, a wagging tail and plenty of enthusiasm. An absolute joy to care for 💚

Friday Focus 💚 Working Better Together

It’s been a little while since my last Friday Focus, but this felt like the right one to come back with.

This Friday Focus is for my friend and fellow dog walker Georgia from 🐾

Georgia runs her business with so much care, patience, and genuine love for the dogs she works with. Her approach is calm, thoughtful, and always centred around each dog as an individual. Wellbeing always comes first.

We’ve been having some really positive conversations about how we can support one another as local dog walkers. Whether that’s future cover when needed, recommending each other when it’s the right fit, or simply knowing there’s someone nearby who shares the same values and standards.

Small businesses don’t thrive in isolation. They thrive through trust, kindness, and showing up for one another. I’m really grateful to be working alongside Georgia and excited to see her business continue to grow 💚

Wednesday Wisdom 💚
Care comes before behaviour.
Safety comes before confidence.

A loving home creates the conditions for trust.
And trust is where real change begins.

I see this change when dogs are given consistency, patience, and care.

Monday Meet: Betty 💚🐾

Betty is a beautiful 6 year old show cocker spaniel with the gentlest nature.

Betty is very much a cuddle over cardio kind of girl. She prefers affection, comfort, and being told how lovely she is to long walks unless to her local🍺, and honestly, I respect that. Cuddles and stroke for her are non-negotiable.

She’s also a huge fan of car journeys, especially when heated seats are involved. Absolute luxury queen behaviour🤣

Betty is now living her very best life with the most wonderful owners, who absolutely adore her and spoil her rotten. She’s safe, loved, and exactly where she’s meant to be.

I feel very lucky to spend time with such a calm, affectionate soul 💚🐾

Friday Focus: Christmas & Boxing Day🎄💚🐾

Christmas can be loud. Busy. Emotional.
Full of traditions, expectations, and moments that don’t always look the way we imagined.

And then comes Boxing Day.
The exhale.

The quieter walks.
Leftover chocolates.
Pyjamas that stay on a little longer.
Dogs who don’t care what day it is, just that you’re there.

If Christmas was about holding it all together, Boxing Day is about letting yourself soften again. Slower steps. Fewer plans. More presence.

However your Christmas looked this year, loud or low key, joyful or heavy, this is your reminder that rest is allowed. You don’t need to make today productive. Showing up is enough.

The dogs are ready when you are.
No pressure. Just paws, fresh air, and a gentler pace.
