How lucky I am to be able to help all these wonderful dogs and their lovely owners.

I would need a lot more photos to fully represent the hundreds of dogs that have come to see us this year!

Often people arrive to their first session with worried faces but seeing them and their dogs grow in confidence and build an enjoyable life together is truly wonderful.

Here’s to 2026 and another year of creating happy families!

I’ve repeatedly shown Islay that when I need to do something like put her harness on, look at part of her body, or administer medicine, I will calmly wait until she sits in front of me before I proceed.

Often she needs to do a bit of a wiggle, grab a toy, or take a moment to process before she’s ready but I give her that time and don’t chase her around or grab her.

By giving her the option to opt in and opt out of these things that can be uncomfortable for her, I’m teaching her that she can be confident in such situations.

Cooperative care isn’t about avoiding doing things they don’t like, it’s about making sure that they feel safe whatever is being asked of them.

Have I trained Islay to be used to getting a plastic bag on her paw? No. But have I trained her that she can trust me? Yes.
