Sharing for one of our supporters who needs to rehome her rescued cat due to conflict in the home....
"Sadly I have to rehome my cheeky boy Lawrence (whom I adopted from Bahrain in February) as he's not getting along with my resident cats despite all the attempts at a slow introduction over the past 5 months - I would like to find him a home in the Greater London/London area so that the potential adopters can come and meet him in person first and get a feeling of his personality. If a perfect match is made the adoption will be done through the Clan McCat Scotland Rescue Charity.
HISTORY
Lawrence (previously known as Habib), is male, neutered, estimated DOB November '23. He was found in the streets of Bahrain when he was 4 months old. After a year at his rescuer's flat, he travelled all the way to London, UK, to be adopted by what we hoped would be his forever home. Unfortunately, despite all the slow introductions, it is clear that he does not like to be in a house with other cats and that he would much happier and calmer as a solo cat in a house where he can be fully himself and flourish without being constantly triggered by the presence of other animals.
PERSONALITY
Lawrence is an extremely energetic boy, and at almost 2 years old he still has very much a kitten energy. He is super curious, adores playing and would also benefit from a large outdoor safe space (garden or even countryside as long as he has no access to trafficked roads or other cats). Lawrence may take a while to become confident and cuddly at first - sometimes he could go from purry and loving to jumpy and bitey with no warning sign (although this could also be due to the presence of the other cats who are making him extra jumpy) - so an experienced and patient cat owner would be best.
It's been quite endearing for me to see him become more and more affectionate and cuddly, week after week - but at first he will be a bit nervous so it's important to follow his lead when it comes to touching, petting etc.
He's very intelligent and he responds to commands such as "A paw" "high five", "Sit" "Lie down", sometimes even "On the floor!" when I want him to get down from the sofa or counter. All in exchange for a treat of course!
He doesn't like to be held, but once he trusts you he is ok with being temporarily picked up to be put on the bed/sofa/carrier etc without any fuss. He adores chin rubs, cuddles when he feels like it and most of all kisses on his head while you are gently holding his face.
Absolutely loves to watch the world go by from a window (just make sure it's almost closed or he will jump out!)
Due to his not getting along with my other cats in the house, the poor boy has not been able to roam the full house as he would like to, therefore he's getting more and more frustrated. The perfect situation for him would be a person or family with no other pets, to lavish their love and attention on him, no young children (this is due to his potential reactiveness when he's nervous, as he actually likes children), and a mid/large safe outdoor space he can access. He has a strong prey drive, so if you live in the countryside and have mice running around, he's going to be sooooo happy! Otherwise he'll content himself with chasing flies.
HEALTH
He has a full clean bill of health, a passport and is up to date with all his vaccinations. Healthiest gums and teeth I've ever seen!
LOCATION:
Currently in central London. As mentioned, I would like his potential rehoming person/family to come and meet him in person, to have a sense of him and his character, before they make the final decision to adopt him, as this boy deserves to find his final and forever home once and for all.
Prior to that, I would also ask for a videocall where I can see your home, so that I can see if it's suitable for his personality.
If we are both sure that a good match has been made, the potential rehomers would have to make an official adoption request via the Clan Mc Cat Scotland application form. The rehoming has to be done via the Clan, who will provide you with an adoption contract and papers, there will be a rehoming fee payable to them, and once he's been rehomed they will transfer his microchip registration to the new owner.
