Milo’s heatwave headquarters ☀️🐾

While the UK heatwave has everyone hiding in the shade, Milo has decided today is less about chaos and more about working on his tan in the gorgeous sunshine 😎 The rest of the gang have sensibly beelined for the cooler rooms indoors, but Milo? Milo has claimed the whole garden for himself like a tiny king on a very peaceful staycation.

No fetch. No fuss. No queue for the best spot. Just sunshine, serenity, and that glorious little face saying, “Ahh… peace and quiet at last.”

With the Met Office warning of extreme heat across parts of the UK, today’s daycare has very much been a case of short bursts, cool spaces, and letting each dog choose their own comfort zone. Milo’s just happens to be the sunny one.

Weekend mode: fully activated 😴🐾

Lazy weekend daycare for River and Max today. They’ve got the kids for company, but rather disappointingly the humans seem far more interested in their board game than the far more important, energy-sapping game of fetch that River and Max had in mind 🎾😂

So while the dogs wait patiently for someone to sort their priorities out, the humans are quietly admiring the nap setup and wondering whether anyone would notice if they also slipped off for a secret snooze…

Honestly, hard to blame them.

Keeping it local, keeping it chaotic ☀️🐾

With the temperature up, today’s walk stayed a little closer to home - but that didn’t stop the fun.

Naru, River and Milo were absolutely locked in on their favourite game of fetch, eyes on the prize and legs ready to launch at a second’s notice 🎾😂

Max was far more interested in keeping things cool, calm and low-key, which honestly felt like the wiser choice.

And then there were Carlos and Harvey… busy doing what boys do best - a little wrestling, a little posturing, and a lot of very important nonsense as they worked out who was in charge for at least the next seven seconds.

Different priorities, same excellent walk.

A dog’s-eye view of fetch 🌿🎾

From down in the long grass, today’s game of fetch looked very serious indeed.

Max wasn’t especially sold on the idea of launching himself blind through the meadow for a full-speed sprint, and Olly clearly agreed - deciding this particular game was not for him and staying close to Kiri instead.

Tiny Milo, however, had absolutely no such concerns. Off he went, charging after River and the ball like a little pocket rocket with zero hesitation 😂

Some dogs like to pace themselves.
Some dogs prefer to supervise from a safe distance. And some hear “fetch” and forget every sensible thought they’ve ever had.

Master of disguise – Max edition 🌿😂

Max appears to be doing his absolute best to hide behind the tallest but thinnest blade of grass in the whole meadow… and honestly, it’s a bold strategy.

From his point of view, he is clearly invisible. Perfectly concealed. A stealthy woodland creature blending seamlessly into the landscape.
From everyone else’s point of view, he is a large fluffy black dog standing in full view and looking extremely pleased with himself 😅

Still, we admire the confidence. It’s not the quality of the hiding spot that matters - it’s the commitment to the mission.

Olly’s secret hiding spot has been compromised 👀🐾

Caught peeking out from behind Kiri like a tiny, scruffy little shadow, Olly looks very pleased with himself… as if no one can possibly see him hiding there with that tongue out and those big innocent eyes 😂

Whether he’s staying close for safety, plotting his next move, or just making sure Kiri doesn’t go anywhere without him, one thing’s for sure - personal space is very much optional when Olly’s involved.

Carlos, Director of Tag, has spoken 🐾📣

Carlos runs a very tight operation when it comes to a game of chase. The moment Harvey pauses for a perfectly sensible rehydration break, Carlos is straight in there barking orders like there are far more important things at stake than drinking water 😂

The others are off in their own little worlds, but Carlos has one focus and one focus only - getting Harvey back on the job so the game of tag can finally begin.

And to be fair, it works. Harvey gets the memo, the chase is on… and then, just as quickly, they’re both back at the stream for another drink.

All that urgency.
All those instructions.
For a game that lasted about three seconds flat.

Sun’s out, chaos restored ☀️🐾

After the afternoon downpour, the clouds cleared, the blue skies came back, and the dogs wasted absolutely no time making the most of it.

One minute it was peaceful countryside calm… the next it was full-speed fetch, frantic sniffing missions, and spontaneous games of tag-you’re-it tearing through the long grass like they’d all been personally recharged by the sunshine 😂

Honestly, the rain barely stood a chance. The moment the sun reappeared, so did the madness.

Houston, we may have a problem… or two earthworms in disguise 🪱🌿

Something’s clearly gone wrong with Carlos and Harvey. Both seem to be having a full-blown identity crisis and have decided they’re no longer dogs, but some sort of meadow-dwelling earthworm, mole… or perhaps low-budget lawn aerator.

There they are, flat out in the grass, wriggling about like they’ve forgotten their doggyness entirely. Either that, or the grass smelt so outrageously good they simply had to apply it like aftershave and roll themselves in it for maximum effect 😂

Why wear a scent when you can become the scent?

Carlos: “Excuse me, where is Harvey?” 🤨🐾

It’s a real treat having Carlos with us outside his usual routine today… although he does seem slightly offended that Harvey isn’t immediately available at paw’s reach to entertain him 😅

Poor Carlos keeps trying to get the games going, but River has completely given up on relying on humans for her favourite game of fetch. She’s now taken matters into her own paws - happily entertaining herself with the ball and throw stick like an independent queen.

Carlos, understandably, finds this deeply inconvenient. So after realising no one was going to cater to his play schedule, he simply took off for a few solo zoomies and an enthusiastic one-dog game of fetch instead 😂

When your usual playmate is absent, sometimes you just have to become your own entertainment.
