😺Today is Feline Leukemia day (FeLV)😺
This is an infectious disease widely spread by infectious cats via saliva and urine. Infected mother cats can also spread this to their kittens while they are in the womb or via milk.
FeLV impacts a cats immune system. Unfortunately there is no cure to this infectious disease but we can vaccinate against it. This vaccine is given as 2 vaccines 3-4 weeks apart to kittens or older cats restarting the course and then yearly.
There is a quick blood test to test if your cat has FeLV. FeLV positive cats should be kept strictly indoors to avoid them picking up further illnesses or spreading the virus to other cats.
